Please read these instructions carefully and keep for future use.
Thank you for purchasing the sera pond UV-C System 55 W. The sera
pond UV-C System has been designed for the sera KOI Profession-
al ® 24000 Pond Filter and other pond filters. Up to two UV-C systems
can be connected to the sera KOI Professional
(fig. 1).
General advice
WARNING: Dangerous ultraviolet radiation!
To prevent eye damage, never look directly into the UV-C lamp
without protection when it is operating (eye damage!)
Attention: Glass!
There are sensitive glass parts inside the UV-C system that may eas-
ily break when shattered strongly.
Application range
sera pond UV-C Systems reliably remove all kinds of floating algae
and reduce the multiplication of thread and other algae without
using chemicals. Pathogens and cloudy water caused by bacteria
are also permanently removed.
The effect of the UV-C lamp is strictly physical and restricted to the
water flowing through. The inhabitants of the pond and the filter
organisms are not harmed by using the UV-C system.
UV-C systems are not suitable for removing mineral cloudiness
from the water. Combination with a pond filter, preferably the sera
KOI Professional ® 24000 Pond Filter, is recommended for this pur-
pose.
Application
The sera pond UV-C System has been developed for use together
with the sera KOI Professional
pond UV-C System 55 W can also be effectively used for reducing
floating algae and bacterial cloudiness without being connected to
a pond filter. In this case, an additional pump with a pump per-
formance of more than 10,000 l/h (2,640 US gal.) is required. We rec-
ommend the pond pump sera pond PP 12000. The unit cannot be
operated without a pump.

Assembly instruction
a) Attached to the sera KOI Professional
The sera pond UV-C System is attached to the pre-installed screw
nuts of the sera KOI Professional
the four eyes of the fixing stand (3.16 b). The sera pond UV-C Sys-
tem is screwed on vertically with the cable facing downwards.
Water intake takes place from the upper end through the 90° wa-
ter intake connector. The outlet of the UV-C system is connected
to the pond filter by means of the mounting bracket (3.17) in-
cluded with the sera KOI Professional
Please proceed in the following order:
Insert the mounting bracket (3.17) from the outside into the
opening in the filter wall. The rubber seal (3.18) must be placed
on the outside, directly at the filter wall. Screw on the bracket
from the inside using the union nut (3.19).
Loosely screw the UV-C system onto the filter with four screws.
Loosen the union nut and turn the end piece (3.9) allowing to fix
it with the bracket (3.17).
Attention! Do not forget the supplied rubber seal.
Now carefully fasten the four screws for the UV-C system. Screw
on the union nut firmly by hand.
Two UV-C systems can be connected to the sera KOI Professional
24000 Pond Filter in this manner (fig. 1).
b) Operation with a sera pond pump PP 12000
The sera pond UV-C System should be installed about two me-
ters (6.6 ft.) from the garden pond. It is advisable to attach it hor-
izontally on a board with the hose connectors directed upwards.
This prevents the system running empty and overheating in case
of pump failure. The system should not be operated without
water flowing through. In case of pump failure the system must
be disconnected from power supply.
Various hose diameters can be connected to the sera pond UV-C
System. You should saw off the smaller diameters with an (iron) saw
if a hose fits on one of the larger diameters. Secure the connection
with a hose clamp. You should use the same diameters for the in-
take and the outlet. It is recommended to install the pond filter be-
hind the UV-C system also if the system is to be used with a pond
filter other than the sera KOI Professional
A downstream filter should not have its own pump.
Operation
Make sure the lamp is completely immersed, that water circulates
around it and that the system is free from air bubbles before
switching on the UV-C lamp. The lamp must not be operated dry, as

When following the instructions, the UV-C system is connected to
the sera KOI Professional
mains inside the unit even in case of pump failure.
In case of operation with a pump without a filter the hoses must be
directed in a way that prevents the UV-C system running dry [see
assembly instructions b)].
Test run
Prior to using your sera pond UV-C System 55 W for normal opera-
tion, the fully installed unit must be tested for potential leaks by
running it without electricity, via a suitable pump, for 24 hours. DO
NOT CONNECT THE UV-C LAMP TO THE POWER/MAINS SUPPLY FOR
THIS TEST. This test allows you to detect leaks.
Carry out the directions of the assembly instruction to do so and
connect the UV-C system to a suitable pump for 24 hours.
The water flow and pressure (pumping height) should match that
of normal operation.
