5) INFORMATION: No PVA bag is required for fabricating a check
socket.
Soak the shorter PVA bag and pull it over the plaster model.
6) Use string to tie off the PVA bag in the undercut of the piston dummy
(see fig. 5).
7) Cut off the excess PVA bag with a scalpel.
8) Position the silicone dummy on the piston dummy. Check that no excess
PVA bag is protruding during this process (see fig. 6).
9) INFORMATION: Do not close the opening in the cylinder body from
the inside. Screw in the valve dummy after positioning the cylinder
body.
Position the cylinder body on the piston dummy. Perform the mediolater
al alignment of the exhaust opening taking into account the prosthetic
alignment.
10) Screw the valve dummy into the exhaust opening until the O-ring closes
the opening (see fig. 7).
11) Close the slot in the valve dummy with Plastaband.
5.2 Fabricating the prosthetic socket
5.2.1 Optional: fabricating the check socket
Recommended materials: ThermoLyn (e.g. 616T52* ThermoLyn rigid,
>
616T83* ThermoLyn clear), 616S5* BetaSil
1) Prepare for fabrication of the prosthetic socket (see Page 19).
2) Attach two strips of Plastaband lengthwise over the cylinder on both the
anterior and the posterior side. This makes it easier to remove the cylin
der after the trial fitting (see fig. 8).
3) Attach a strip of Plastaband circularly over the proximal edge of the cylin
der to seal the prosthetic socket (see fig. 8).
4) Complete the vacuum forming process.
5) Finish the prosthetic socket (see Page 21).
6) If the prosthetic socket leaks: seal the transition from the cylinder
body to the inside of the prosthetic socket with BetaSil.
5.2.2 Laminating the prosthetic socket
Required materials: 623T3=8 or 623T3=10 Perlon stockinette, 81A1=8
>
or 81A1=10 nylon stockinette, 616B1=25x* carbon fibre cloth strap,
99B81=100X19X5 PVA bag, 617H119 Orthocryl lamination resin 80:20
PRO, string, 627B40 polyethylene adhesive tape
1) Prepare for fabrication of the prosthetic socket (see Page 19).
2) Cut a piece of Perlon stockinette (twice the length of the plaster model).
