The selection should be based on the measurements found in typical pa-
tient fittings.
3 Fabricating a mold
Lay the vacuum bag on a base (plate, seat for mold taking, or similar).
Connect the vacuum pump (such as the 448H33 Ottobock Vacuum Pump)
and open the valve to slightly evacuate the bag. Close the valve. Slightly
pre-shape the vacuum bag and seat the patient in the vacuum bag in the
desired position.
Continue evacuation (by opening the valve) while molding the bag to the
patient's contours to further improve the mold shape.
Once the mold fulfills the requirements, secure the definitive shape of the
vacuum bag by/with further evacuation.
The vacuum bag should now be firm enough that further modification is
not possible.
Remove the patient and record the model by digitizing or by using plaster
cast technology.

4 Safety instructions

CAUTION
Do not expose the vacuum bag to direct sunlight.
Use alcohol to clean the bags. Do not treat the vacuum bag with bases/
alkaline solutions, acids or solvents. Do not store it in proximity of sol-
vent vapours. These substances would cause the wrapping to become
brittle and crack. Once this has happened, it is no longer possible to
repare the bags.
Remove any watches and jewelry when taking the mold. Sharp objects
can damage the wrapping and cause the filling material to escape from
the vacuum bag.
The vacuum bag's outer material is made of latex. Please pay attention
to possible latex allergies of patients.
5 Repair
Should cracks or cuts occur on the vacuum bags, they can be repaired by
Ottobock. Lost filling material can also be refilled.
