Assembling the Crane
Pre-Assembly
Please refer to the Parts Diagram on pg. 9 before assembling the crane.
Inspect the crane to assure there are no missing or damaged parts. Do not discard the crane's shipping
containers as they can be reused if the crane needs to be repackaged. Contact you OZ Lifting Products
®
LLC
dealer if any problems arise.
Assure that all components, including the pin that the load sheave rides on, are properly lubricated before
assembling. Refer to Cleaning & Lubricating the Crane on pg. 11.
During assembly, perform an inspection according to the procedures found on pg. 11.
Document and resolve any issues. This will provide a comparison for later inspections.
Assembly
NOTE: Fasteners should not be over-tightened during assembly as this may strip the threads and lead to
damage. For the purpose of assembly, four clevis pins, marked 1-3, are included. The two pins marked #1
are identical. Both are necessary for assembly.

Once the OZ Lifting Products LLC
base has been installed, assemble the crane with the following steps:
1. Install the mast into the base. The mast will slide easily down into the base (no tools are necessary).
Assure that the mast is properly positioned on the pin at the bottom of the base. This can be confirmed by
moving the mast from side to side to check for excessive play. The mast should fit snugly.

2. Set the boom on the mast using the mast Smart Latch, an OZ Lifting Products LLC
quick connection
system. Make sure the orientation of the boom is correct to the mast—the winch end of the boom should
be over the ratchet jack attachment point on the mast. The boom should be tilted slightly so the oblong
hole can be hooked over the one end of the mast top pin. Twist the boom back to a horizontal position to
engage the other end of the mast top pin.
3. Attach the top end of the ratchet jack to the rear section of the boom. Align the holes on the back of the
boom with the holes on the ratchet jack. Insert clevis pin #2. Secure with a lynch pin.
NOTE: Releasing your grip on the boom at this point in assembly may cause the boom to
swing down into the mast. This could result in injury or damage to the product.
4. Install the other end of the ratchet jack by inserting the first clevis pin #1 into the ratchet jack mounting
point on the mast. This is located near the middle of the mast. Install the safety lanyard over the clevis pin
(see pg. 5 for more details on safety lanyard installation). Secure with a lynch pin.
NOTE: The CompOZite Davit Crane will ship from the factory partially assembled. The following steps are
only for reference if the product must be reassembled.
