the head hook.
Stop turning when the demounting hook hooks onto the tyre bead (see Fig. L/1).
7) With the wheel stationary, lift the control lever (31, Fig. E): the tyre bead will move
onto the head for demounting (see Fig. L/2).
8) Start turning the turntable until the first bead has been completely demounted.
N.B.: To avoid breaking any pressure sensors, place the valve in 12 o' clock position once
the head hook has been hooked on.
N.B.: If the tyre tends to stay in the well, use a bead guide lever to make the task easier
and proceed as described in the procedure for Run Flat tyres.
9) Remove the inner tube if the tyre has one.
10) Press the control pedal on the vertical post to bring it to its non-working posi-
tion.
11) Lower the lower bead breaker disc (24, Fig. E) and bring it to the same height as
the lower edge of the rim, manually lift the tyre and place the disc underneath it.
12) Line the disc up with the outer edge of the rim (see Fig. L/3) and then lock it by
using the control lever (25, Fig. E).
13) Using the special control lever (21, Fig. E) lift the disc until the bead is above the
upper edge of the rim (see Fig L/4).
N.B.: make the task easier by manually lifting the part of the tyre that is opposite the
disc.
14) Start to turn the turntable until the tyre has been completely demounted and alter-
nate the direction of rotation (clockwise/anticlockwise) of the turntable.
15) Use the control lever (25, Fig. E) to release the lower disc and bring it to a non-
working position.
MOUNTING
CHECKING TYRE AND RIM
WARNING: This checking of tyre and rim is of the utmost importance to prevent the tyre from bursting during bead seating and
inflating operations!
Before beginning mounting operations make sure that:
- the tyre is not damage and the cord fabric is not damaged.
If you note defects do not mount the tyre.
- the rim is without dents and is not warped.
NB: particularly with alloy rims, dents can cause internal micro-cracks not visible to the naked eye.
This can compromise the rim and can also be a source of danger especially during inflation.
- the diameter of the rim and tyre are EXACTLY the same.
NB: the diameter of the rim is stamped on the rim. The diameter of the tyre is stamped on the tyre wall. NEVER try to mount a
tyre on a rim if you cannot identify the diameters of both.
