Conducting the measurement
With this breathalyzer you can perform an active test (with
mouthpiece use, see 1.A to 3.A) and a passive test (without
mouthpiece use, see 1.B to 3.B).

1.A
1.A 1.A For an active test, press the start button on the front
of the breathalyzer *. The device beeps once and the sensor
heats up. By the way, the display shows 5 lines and after a few
seconds a double beep fllows.
2.A As soon as „0" appears on the display, the breath test can
be started. Begin 4 seconds without interruption and evenly
A) into the previously pushed out mouthpiece OR B) into the
previously attached external mouthpiece. Simply breathe out
slowly and without interruption, much as if you were whistling.
The unit beeps continuously during the breath test.
3.A As soon as the beep stops and you hear a click sound and
a 2-time beep, the test is over completed. After a few seconds
you will see the measurement result on the display. It will be
displayed for 10 seconds and accompanied by the beeps, then
the device will turn off automatically. You can also switch off the
device manually by pressing the start button for 3 seconds, the
display shows „Out" before the final shutdown.

By the way, the display shows 5 lines and after a few seconds a
double beep follows.
2.B As soon as „0" appears on the display, hold the device in
front of the mouth or mouth of a person to be tested. As soon
as you or the person exhale, press the start button again, the
device has completed the measurement.
3.B The display now shows P or F (P = Pass / F = FAIL). Criteria
for P and F: A measurement of less than 0.20 parts per
thousand indicates P and a measurement above 0.20 parts
per thousand indicates F). If you now press and hold the start
button for 2 seconds, the display shows „0" again and the de-

vice is ready for a new test (active or passive). If you no longer
press the start button, the device switches off after 10 seconds.
Please note: If the test was interrupted or if the breath sample
was too weak then you will see "Flo" on the display. In this case
please start a new test by pressing the start button.
Tip: Blow like you would whistle without a tone.
* If you keep pressing the power button, you can see "C" and
shortly afterwards "A" on the LCD. "C" shows the total number
of all tests (maximum = 999). "A" only shows the number of tests
(maximum = 999) with a measurement of more than 0.20 ‰
(per mill = default setting). The counting of "C" and "A" starts
anew with "0" after a calibration service.
ACE Instruments recommends
Always use a new mouthpiece for each person and test that is
conducted. ACE Instruments assumes no liability for any damag-
es which arise when several people use the same mouthpiece
for multiple tests.
Only use the provided single packed and hygienic mouthpiec-
es (more are available at www.alkomat.net). During each test the
Breathalyzer's internal and external parts come into contact with
human secretion (saliva, blood, sweat, etc.)!
Use safety gloves when pulling out a mouthpiece used by
another person! You can buy appropriate gloves at ACE Technik
(www.ace-technik.de).
Important notice
When you have eaten, drunken alcohol or smoked a cigaret-
te, wait at least 15 minutes before starting the measurement.
Any test conducted prior to the expiration of the recommended
waiting period will result in inaccurate results.
If the test result is below 0.10‰ (per mill = g/l) or 0.050 mg/l
(uk settting) or 0.010% BAC (us setting) then the device shows
0.00 (‰ or mg/l or % BAC – depending on the setting) on
the display. This happens because at a low range of alcohol
concentration it is possible to measure other materials in your
mouth.
This breathalyzer is a high quality and sensitive measurement
device. To maintain the accuracy of the fuel cell sensor, it
should regularly be used. If the device is not used for an ex-
tended period of time, the sensor can dry out. ACE Instruments
recommends to use the breathalyzer at least 2 times per
month (even if you have not been drinking alcohol).
