4) Carefully bend open the ankle protector and place it over the retaining ring (see fig. 7).
Make sure the circumferential sleeve of the retaining ring is engaged in the recess of the ankle
protector.
5) Close the ankle closure (see fig. 9).
6.2.2 Retaining ring, short
1) Carefully stretch the retaining ring slightly and place it over the tube adapter (see fig. 8).
Dorsally position the slot opening of the retaining ring.
2) Apply a thin, double-sided adhesive tape between the retaining ring and the tube adapter to
prevent gliding movements between the retaining ring and the tube adapter.
3) Slide the retaining ring down until it rests on the top edge of the tube adapter.
4) Carefully bend open the ankle protector and place it over the retaining ring (see fig. 7).
Make sure that one of the circumferential sleeves on the retaining ring is engaged in the
recess of the ankle protector.
Depending upon the sleeve you select, the distance of the ankle protector to the joint plane of
the foot can be adjusted to approx. 5 mm.
5) Close the ankle closure (see fig. 9).
6.3 Cutting the tube protector to length
Adjusting the length of the tube protector is required because of different lower leg lengths of
patients.
1) Measure the distance between the ankle protector and bottom of the joint (see fig. 10).
2) Add 12 mm to this measurement.
3) Transfer the total measurement onto the tube protector (see fig. 11).
Transfer the total measurement from the tube end which shows locking sleeves (see fig. 11,
arrows).
4) Use linen adhesive tape to clamp the tube protector together at both ends in order to ensure
the tube will remain stable when cut off.
5) Cut the tube protector to length at the marks using a saw (see fig. 12).
6) Deburr the cut edge.
6.4 Assembling the tube protector and joint protector
INFORMATION
Remove the protective elastomer cap from the joint before assembling the joint protector on the
C-Leg compact or Ottobock Compact (see 647G170=* instructions for use).
INFORMATION
Before assembling the joint protector on the C-Leg, remove the fixed plug cover and insert the
red protective cover into the communication port (see 647G750 instructions for use).
1) Stretch the tube protector and place it over the tube adapter.
2) Insert the tube protector into the groove of the ankle protector until it engages (see fig. 13).
3) Stretch the joint protector and slide it over the joint (see fig. 14).
4) Place the joint protector over the tube protector.
Make sure the tube is enclosed completely by the recess of the joint protector.
5) Close the joint protector by pressing in both calf closures (see fig. 15).
6.5 Positioning the sock band
The sock band serves to fix the sock onto the tube protector.
1) Remove the shoe from the prosthetic foot.
