DRILLING FOR HINGES
AA
Make certain that the stops are up against the front edge of the board and that the hinge axis on the
drilling template is at the same point as the hinge axis on the work piece. Fix the drilling template
to the work piece using clamps. Set the drilling depth on the adaptor chuck according to the length
of the screws used. Put the adaptor chuck with the relative drill bit gradually into the two holes for
the hinge used and drill one hole to the right of the axis and another to the left of the axis (Fig. 17).
Make certain the drill rotates in the correct direction – these are right-hand bits.
Holes 3, 4, 5 and 6 are used to set the distance between the pivot centre and the door edge;
the numbers show the distance of the edge of the 35mm diameter pivot hole from the board
edge.
Once the holes for the wood screws are drilled, indicate the pivot centre with pointed stop (pos. 2).
Insert the stop in the hole and, gently tapping with a hammer, create a guide hole for the hinge bit
(Fig. 18).

Drilling holes for the hinge pivot
Remove the clamps and separate the drilling template from the work piece. Fit a 35mm hinge bit
on the drill. Now insert the bit in the guide hole on the door and drill a 35mm diameter 11mm
deep hole.
To drill the 35mm hole, a CMT 512.350.11 bit is recommended.
WARNING!!!
While drilling, press the adaptor chuck against the template to ensure vertical drilling.
The drilling bush can be supported with the other hand. Always keep the drill in a vertical
position, so that the drilling bush touches the CMT400-1 with its entire surface and all holes
are vertical.
It is advisable to drill holes gradually. Always follow safety instructions for drilling work!
