To adjust the clutch, see Figure P and follow the steps below.
When the Touch Taper is turned on and a piece of tape is cut, the solenoid inside the
machine draws the gears into place so that the teeth of the gears lock. If the solenoid
energizes and pulls the shift rod into place but does not engage the gear teeth, the two
nuts on the shift yoke plate must be adjusted.
1. Loosen the outside nut with a 7/16" (11.113 mm) open end wrench.
2. Turn the inside nut counterclockwise until the teeth of the gears meet.
3. Tighten both of the nuts when the gear teeth have been aligned.

1. Turn the power switch off and unplug the power cord.
2. Remove the left gear cover plate.
3. Turn the machine upside down and remove the four screws holding the motor base
plate in position.
