sing the "14R3 Wire Wrap Battery Tool". Production was
based on stringent quality requirements which guarantee the
perfect operation of the device.
1. Caution!
Please read these Operating Instructions and the attached
Safety Information carefully prior to initial operation. Failure
to observe the safety regulations results in a risk to life and
limb.
The manufacturer shall not be liable for damage resulting
from misuse of the machine or unauthorised alterations.
The "14R3 Wire Wrap Battery Tool" corresponds to the EC
Declaration of Conformity in accordance with the basic safe-
ty requirements of Directives 89/336/EEC and 73/23EEC.
2. Description
The "14R3 Wire Wrap Battery Tool" is supplied as a wiring
tool for right-wrapped connections. With the aid of various
wrapping inserts, solid wires in the wire diameter range
0.20mm - 0.65mm (AWG32 - AWG22) can be processed. The
solid round copper wire, which sits in the wire groove, is
wound around the angular wrapping post by the wrapping
insert in several loops using high mechanical pressure, giving
rise to a gas-tight, electrical connection. During winding, the
guide bush provides the wrapping insert with the necessary
guidance. The wrapping insert and the guide bush can be
replaced simply and without external aids by means of an
adjusting nut on the head piece of the tool. Following the
wire-wrapping process, the wrapping insert stops again at its
starting-point by means of infinitely variable indexing over its
entire range. The direction of rotation is changed by reversing
the battery handle on the head of the tool. With the aid of spe-
cial wire removal inserts, each with a guide bush, right-
angled or left-angled (Wire Wrap Automat) connections can
thus be de-wired. A letter in the window of the tool head indi-
cates the direction of rotation. "W" stands for right direction
of rotation and "U" for left direction of rotation.

When handling wire diameters from 0.25mm - 0.4 mm
(AWG30 - AWG26), work can be carried out with a KAA
(combined cut-off and insulation-stripping) wiring insert.
Using a KAA wrapping insert and guide bush with a cutting
edge, the end of the wire is cut off, stripped and wrapped to
the exact length in one operating cycle.
The battery is incorporated into the handle and is connected
to the wrapping head via a bayonet socket. To recharge the
battery it must be disconnected from the wrapping head,
plugged into the battery charger and locked with reverse bat-
tery protection. A discharged battery will be recharged in
approx. 1 hour (rapid charging). When the battery is charged,
the battery charger switches over to compensation charging.
The red LED indicates the charging process; when the green
LED lights up, the battery is ready for operation with the Wire
Wrap Tool.
3. Commissioning
The battery was charged at the factory but should be rechar-
ged before use. Slide the charged battery handle with the
desired polarity for right-handed rotation "W" (Wrap) or left-
handed rotation "U" (Unwrap) into the tool head and lock,
until the corresponding letter (W or U) appears in the window.
Fit the wiring insert (wrapping insert + guide bush) into the
wire-wrap tool. To do this, loosen the adjusting nut
(90530950) on the head piece, press the wrapping insert
lightly against the carrier in the tool and turn until it locks into
place. Slide the guide bush with the groove over the positio-
ning pin in the tool and when the tool is running, tighten the
adjusting nut by hand. Insert the end of the wire into the wire
guide channel (eccentric bore). Slide the wire-wrap tool with
the central bore over the wrapping connection pin. Operate
the finger switch. The jumper wire will be wound by the
wrapping insert in several loops around the connection pin,
but do not press too hard when doing so. Following this, take
the wire-wrap tool out of the connection pin.
