IDENTIFICATION OF THE CONNECTIONS AND SWITCHES
Refer to the drawing below
YELLOW jack is used with EXTERNAL
VOLMETER FOR "DFM" reading with
plug code 078
Plug Code 063
Explanation of the switches
SYSTEM SELECTOR SWITCH- This switch
selects one of the two operating systems that
can be used, either "LIN" or "BSS". The center
"DEFAULT" is off so the alternator can be oper-
ated in the "DEFAULT" or self-exciting mode.
VOLTAGE SELECTOR SWITCH- This switch
selects one of three operating range voltage
settings of approximately 14.1, 14.6 and 15.3
volts.
TEST PROCEDURE
(Alternator type and data known)
With any electronic device like the HC-CARGO
211126 is susceptible to damage from voltage
spikes. When shutting down your test bench,
follow the manufacturer's procedure to maintain
the battery connection.
1. Verify that your test bench is set to operate
on 12 volts. The HC-CARGO 211126 should
NOT be used on 24 volt or higher alternators.
2. Select the proper adapter plug for the applica-
tion, either plug code "078", "063" or "382."
3. Connect the RED clip along with the test
bench (B+) lead to the alternator (B+) output

post. Connect the BLACK clip along with the
test bench (B-) lead to the alternator casting.
4. Select the correct system: BSS or LIN using
the "SYSTEM SELECTOR SWITCH."
5. Select the center 14.6 voltage setting, using
the "VOLTAGE SELECTOR SWITCH."
6. Set alternator speed at approximately 1800
to 2000 RPM. The alternator should begin
charging on its own. Verify amperage output
at low speed.
7. Increase alternator speed and verify that the
alternator produces rated amperage.
8. If the alternator performs to your satisfaction
(voltage and amperage), select the lower
voltage 14.1 setting. There may be a delay of
several seconds before a new signal is sent
and processed by the regulator. This delay is
normal and depends on the part number.
9. Select the higher voltage, 15.3 setting. There
may be a delay of several seconds before
a new signal is sent and processed by the
regulator. This delay is normal and depends
on the part number.
10. If using the adapter for plug code "078",
connect the (+) lead of a separate voltmeter
to the YELLOW (EXT. VOLT) jack on the
HC-CARGO 211126. Connect the (-) lead of
the voltmeter to the alternator (-) casting. The
