- For sealed fans, after 3-4 hours of operation check that the screws are secure and the axis are aligned.
- After two hours, once again check that the screws are secured, re-tightening whenever necessary.
- For belt transmission fans, it is necessary to frequently check the tightness of the belts during the initial 48 hours of operation, ensuring that
they move properly.
During the first three months of operation, check the lubrication every week. Subsequently, lubrication will be carried out as described in the
specific chapter.
MAINTENANCE
All maintenance operations, whether ordinary or extraordinary, must be carried out with the fan switched off and with all the power supply
connections, whether electrical, pneumatic or any other, removed. Maintenance must be carried out by expert staff who have been duly trained,
respecting all current dispositions with regards to safety, in particular those indicated in chapter: SAFETY PRECAUTIONS. Regularly clean both
the inner and outer parts of the fan, in accordance with the fluid transported and the service load.
LUBRICATION
Greasing (where envisaged) will be carried out when the lubrication of the bearing is still satisfactory, changing the grease present in the
bearing with new grease each time. Do not apply too much lubricant, in order to avoid excess heating of the bearings. We recommend adding
the grease whilst slowly turning the shaft by hand. If the lubrication is carried out with a high pressure pistol, we recommend careful cleaning of
the greasers, taking care not to excessively fill the supports. With the following formula we can determine the amount of new lubricant to be
provided at the moment of assembly and in subsequent lubrications: G = 0.005DB
In which G is the amount of grease in grams and D and B are, respectively, the exterior diameter and the width of the bearing measured in mm.
Check the diagram in order to determine the time interval between one lubrication and the next. We recommend cutting in half the lubrication
interval obtained in the diagram per 15ºC of working temperature increase of the bearing above 70ºC. We can further reduce the lubrication
interval in the event of dirt, high temperature or corrosive environment.
Example: a radial ball bearing, with an axle orifice of diameter (d) equal to 100 mm rotates at a speed of 1,000 rpm. The working temperature is
between 60ºC and 70ºC.
To decide the required lubrication interval:
Draw a vertical line with a value equal to 1,000 in X axis of the diagram until we come to the curve d = 100mm.
Draw a horizontal line from the intersection to the Y axis, corresponding to the radial ball bearing.
The value obtained, 10,000, represents the lubrication interval. NOTE: Our fans are designed such that the useful life of the bearing, in the
transmission side, is between 20,000 and 30,000 hours of continuous service. The warranty is only valid for transmissions which we have
supplied (designed and assembled on our premises). If this is not the case, contact our technical office in order to choose the appropriate
transmission. In order to lubricate the electrical motor bearings, see the instructions and maintenance manual of the manufacturer, which is
supplied with the fan.
Recommended lubricants: CASTROL speheerol-LMM, ESSO Multipurpose grease (Moly), AGIP GR SM, MOBIL Mobilgrease special, SHELL
Retinax AM, FINA Marson LM, ROL Isomov MS.
BELT DRIVEN FAN
It is necessary to regularly check the belts and keep them clean.
Even in the event of deterioration of one single belt, it is necessary to change them all, following the instructions specified in the point
INSTALLING THE TRAPEZOIDAL BELTS.
ASSEMBLY
If it is necessary to carry out dismounting operations (e.g. in order to change pieces or for maintenance), the instructions detailed in the specific
manual must be complied with. If you do not have a fan assembly manual, do not carry out the operation, and contact Soler & Palau technical
office.
