2.2 Bead Loosening and Tire Demounting
The S 52A tire changer is capable of servicing wheels from 14.5" to 26" with a width of up to 27" (695 mm). Most steer and
drive axle tires can be considered "Standard" tires for the purpose of this manual. Wide Base, Michelin
®
X One
®
, and
some rims would be considered "More Difficult."
Standard Tire/Wheels
Place both bead rollers into tire carriage.
Tire not shown for clarity.
Beginning with the outboard bead, move the outboard bead roller into the working position.
Use the inboard/outboard and up/down controls to bring the bead roller against the sidewall of the tire.
The wheel edge should be no more than 3/16" (5 mm) from the top of the bead roller.
Press the bead roller lightly against tire.
NOTE:
Lubrication is essential for demounting.
While rotating the wheel in either direction, generously lubricate the tire bead area and slowly push the tire bead off of
the bead seat.
