1 - INTRODUCTION
Congratulations on your purchase of this TRIBORD brand product.
TRIBORD regulators have been tested and certified in accordance with the EC directive 89-686-
ECC of 21/12/1989.
The certification tests were conducted by RINA Laboratory, S.p.A. - Via Corsica, 12 16128
Genoa - Italy accredited organisation no. 0474.
Under this directive, the control methods used meet the requirements of standard EN 250: 2014:
Open-circuit self-contained compressed air diving apparatus
This certification is mandatory for personal protective equipment to be placed on the market and
to meet safety requirements.
TRIBORD unbalanced first stage regulators are certified for use in cold water (temperature below
+10 °C).
TRIBORD balanced first stage regulators are certified for use in non-cold water (temperature
equal to or above +10 °C).
1.1 Limitation according to standard EN 250: 2014.
Definition: a self-contained breathing apparatus consists of various parts such as tanks for
compressed air with valve, regulator, safety device (submersible pressure gauge) and harness.
The TRIBORD regulators in this manual can be used with subsets of the self-contained breathing
apparatus certified in accordance with directive 89/686/EEC and according to standard EN 250: 2014.
The air in the tanks must meet the requirements for breathable air set out in EN 12021.
Maximum operating depth: 50 metres.
- Maximum pressure: 230 bar (ISO 12209-1 bracket connector).
- Maximum pressure: 230 bar (ISO 12209-2 DIN 230).
- Maximum pressure: 300 bar (ISO 12209-2 DIN 300).
According to standard EN 250: 2014, cold water is considered as water that is below a temperature
of +10° C:
- Non-cold water regulator: regulator for use in water that is equal to or above a temperature
of +10° C.
- Cold water regulator: regulator for use in water that is below +10° C, and certified after a
certification test conducted at +4 ° C.
The Octopus is only usable with certified TRIBORD regulators.
The TRIBORD Octopus has been certified according to EN 250: 2014 appendix B.
According to this standard, the secondary demand valve (normally called the Octopus), which
is connected to the same pressure reducing valve as the primary regulator, may be used
simultaneously by two divers to a maximum depth of 30 m.
