sera reptil terra top
Please read these instructions carefully and keep for future use.
Thank you for choosing the sera reptil terra top terrarium light
hood. This light hood gives you the opportunity to imitate the
manifold natural light conditions of the terrarium biotopes just
as in nature. sera provides different fluorescent lamps for equip-
ping the sera reptil terra top as to keeping reptiles according
to their natural requirements. The sera terrarium light hood ide-
ally matches the sera reptil terra biotop 60, but can of course
also be used with other terrariums with a minimum width of
60 cm (23.6 in.). The sera terrarium light hood has 2 lamp fix-
tures and 6 built-in LED moonlights. The lamp sockets and
moonlights are switched separately.

Please be sure to read carefully!
Pull the mains plug before conducting any work at the sera
reptil terra top!
Install only lamps with a maximum wattage of 30 W each
per fixture. Do not look directly into the light from a short
distance when using lamps that emit UV-B light or LeD
lighting.
Always operate the sera light hood with two lamps. attention
– electric shock! When using only one lamp, the second fixture
is also current carrying, and the contacts are unprotected! In
case a lamp is faulty, put the sera light hood out of operation
until the lamp has been replaced.
Do not immerse in water!
Do not wipe with a soft cloth while in operation!
application and application range
When combined with the sera reptil terra biotop 60 terrarium,
the sera reptil terra top terrarium light hood provides a special
feature. The light hood can be inserted into the terrarium cover.
The fold-up mesh cover is removed, and the light hood is
placed in its place instead. Now the light radiation will meet the
high light requirements of the reptiles without any shadowing
and loss of light intensity. The dimensions are matching so ex-
actly that you do not need to worry that smaller inhabitants
might escape. Please be aware that the lamps are now freely
accessible and possibly might be reached by jumping or climb-
ing animals. The light hood can also be placed on the front or
back mesh frame if you wish to leave the mesh frames in place
for protecting the animals.
The sera reptil terra top terrarium light hood is equipped for
two energy saving lamps or compact fluorescent lamps with
E 27 fixtures. You can install the modern spiral versions of the
compact fluorescent lamps often called "CFL" (Compact
Fluorescent Lamp), e.g. the sera reptil daylight compact 26 W
2% UV-B. Rod shaped CFL lamps will also fit into the fixtures.
The light yield emitted into the terrarium will increase due to the
high gloss polished reflector. This is particularly important as the
animals need to be supplied with a sufficient amount of UV-A
and UV-B radiation in a terrarium. Please refer to our guide
booklet about reptiles for information which lamps are best suit-
ed for the specific animal species.

assembly instruction and operation
Disconnect the unit from the mains supply before conduct-
ing any kind of work at the unit!
Inserting the lamps:
Place the sera reptil terra top on a soft mat with the bottom
side facing upwards. Make sure there are no cracks in the lamp
fixtures (1.2). Screw the lamps, e.g. sera reptil desert com-
pact, into the lamp fixture. Be sure to touch the lamps not at the
glass but only at the base. Do not use any tools but screw the
lamps into the lamp fixtures without exerting much power.
Connect the light hood with the mains supply and check briefly
whether both lamps are working. Disconnect the sera light
hood from the mains supply again before putting it in place.
Placing the light hood on the frame of the mesh cover
(fig. 2)
You can place the sera lamp on the front (2.1) or back (2.2)
frame of the mesh cover. This depends on which part of the ter-
rarium you wish to illuminate. Each of the two mesh cover
frames of the sera reptil terra biotop 60 has four latch pins
(2.3) that protect the sera reptil terra top against sliding. Make
sure the latch pins lie inside the latch bars (1.9) of the sera light
hood. Connect the sera light hood to the mains supply and
switch the lamps on.
