6 Putting into operation
Atmospheric charging between the welding device and cold wire feeder system can be prevented by a potential equalisation
cable (8). The corresponding connection cable is included in the scope of delivery for new devices. For devices that are
already in use, this connection cable is available as a spare part and can be retrofitted at any time.
The assembly of the potential equalisation cable (8) is described in the assembly instruction (BEI.0256.0).
The wire spool seat with a brake is used to hold standardised welding wire spools with a maximum weight of 16 kg and a
maximum diameter of 300 mm.
NOTICE
• Restrictions for aluminium: Max. length of the cable assembly: 6 m
• Restrictions for unalloyed/low-alloy steels: Max. length of the cable assembly: 6 m

DANGER
Personal injuries and material damage
Incorrect connection of the power source can result in personal injuries and material damage.
• Connect the ABIDRIVE only to properly earthed power sockets.
• Operate the ABIDRIVE only with an intact connection lead with a protective conductor and safety plug.
• Depending on the power source, a special intermediate cable assembly is required for operation.
• Only use ABICOR BINZEL cable assemblies.
DANGER
Risk of injury due to unexpected start-up
The following instructions must be adhered to throughout all maintenance, servicing, assembly, disassembly and repair
work:
