Product description
The Birthing Bed is an AC-powered, adjustable obstetrical hospital bed designed to aid in the birthing process. The
Birthing Bed provides comfort for both the patient and operator with an ergonomic design. The Birthing Bed offers a
trend-like position, a nurse call feature, labor bar, calf supports, and foot supports to assist in the labor and delivery
process. The Birthing Bed offers the Skoocher® option to allow for customized positioning and assists in moving the
patient closer to the perineal edge of the product.
Intended use
The Birthing Bed is intended to be used by patients during the labor and delivery process, and those requiring intra-
hospital transfers to and from delivery rooms, in a health care environment. The safe working load (the sum of the
patient, the mattress, and accessory weight) for the Birthing Bed is 500 lb (227 kg).
The Birthing Bed is intended to support a human patient during the labor and delivery process. The Birthing Bed (frame
and mattress) can come in contact with the patient's skin.
The Birthing Bed is intended to be used in an acute health care environment, including hospitals and other institutions
where obstetric procedures are provided for labor and delivery. Intended operators of the Birthing Bed are health care
professionals and maintenance technicians (for maintenance related issues). Patients and bystanders can operate
limited functions, which shall be limited to bed motion features that are related to comfort only and the nurse call feature.
The Birthing Bed is compatible with a mattress with the following dimensions:

Head end mattress − 49.5 in. (126 cm) x 33 in. (84 cm) x 5 in. (13 cm)
•
Foot section mattress − 30 in. (76 cm) x 30 in. (76 cm) x 3 in. (8 cm)
Expected service life
The Birthing Bed has a 10 year expected service life under normal use, conditions, and with appropriate periodic
maintenance.
The Birthing Bed mattress has a two year expected service life under normal use, conditions, and with appropriate
periodic maintenance.
