Cleaning
Disconnect all electrical devices from the power/mains supply by pulling
their plugs. Remove the entire pond UVC-55X System from the Koi
Professional Pond Filter. Loosen the screws (10) of the fixing stand (4).
Take the UV-C lamp out of the bracket. Loosen the large union nut (14) on
the side of the unit that holds the power cord. You can pull the quartz glass
tube (6) along with the lamp (8) out of the casing on the side that holds the
power cord. Caution! The glass parts are easily broken.
Clean the glass cylinder with a soft cloth. Check whether the lamp has
cracks or similar damages after you have cleaned the glass cylinder. Do
not switch on the lamp for doing so! Please see the section "Replacing
the lamp" in case the lamp is not intact any more.
Now clean the stainless steel casing (3) on the inside. Use a long-handle
brush to do so.
You can use a neutral, solvent-free cleaning agent for cleaning. Cleaning
agents are very dangerous to many aquatic organisms and must not
get into the water! All cleaned parts must be rinsed carefully before they
come into contact with pond/aquarium water again.
Maintenance
Replacing the lamp
The amalgam UV-C lamp should be replaced after approx. one year.
Disconnect all electrical parts and units in the pond from the mains
supply before opening the casing of the UV-C lamp!
There are glass parts inside the pond UVC-55X that may easily break when
handled inappropriately.
• Pour the water out of the UV-C system.
• Loosen the union nut (14) on the side of the unit that holds the
power cord.
Caution! The UV-C lamp is approx. 50 cm long and directly connected to
the lid. It can easily break in case of abrupt movements. You can pull out
the lamp only after clicking it out of its fixture (9). Pull out the lid along with
the lamp by approx. 10 cm to do so. Click the lamp out of the fixture and
gently, without twisting it, pull out the lamp entirely out of the quartz glass
tube (6) once you can get hold of the fixture (9) and the lamp (8) separately.
Do not let go of the lamp!
The lamp is equipped with a lamp holder (7) at the bottom end, which
ensures correct positioning inside the glass tube.
This lamp holder (7) must by all means be attached to the new lamp (8).
An electronic ballast (5) with electronic starter is located in the casing of
the UV-C lamp. The ballast may only be replaced by specialized staff.
Disposal of the unit
Waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) must not get into
domestic waste!
If ever the unit cannot be used anymore, the consumer is legally obliged to
hand in waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) separately
from domestic waste, e.g. at a collection point of his community/his
district. This ensures that waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE)
is expertly processed and that negative effects to the environment are
avoided.
Therefore electrical and electronic
equipment bears the following symbol:
The amalgam lamp (8) must be disposed of as special waste at your local
special waste collection point.
Manufacturer guaranty
We, sera GmbH (warrantor), Borsigstraße 49, 52525 Heinsberg, Germany,
grant our customers a 2 year guaranty* for the sera pond UVC-55X
covering freedom of defects in material and production, commencing on
the purchase date.
The 2 year sera guaranty is to be understood as an additional service of
the manufacturer and not as a replacement for your rights arising from
§§ 437 BGB (German Civil Code). Your statutory rights are not limited by
this guaranty. Claims arising from statutory liability for defects are also
not affected!
Guaranty exclusion (*)
The following parts are excluded from guaranty:
a. Guaranty does NOT apply for wear and tear parts (see "spare parts
list") such as seal rings and UV-C lamps.
b. Any kind of damage on electric cables and plugs of the
ballast as well as glass are excluded from guaranty, unless
the fault arises due to a material or manufacturing flaw.
In case the mains cable of the ballast is damaged, the cable must
be replaced immediately. These cables are not being repaired by the
manufacturer due to safety reasons (explanation: moisture that gets
into the cable often leads to subsequent corrosion and short circuits).
c. The guaranty does not cover damages caused by external influences
such as hitting, falling or dropping after the purchase.
Expiring of guaranty
Guaranty obligations are void if:
• the information for use was not followed and the device was exposed
to negligent, improper or unsuitable use, maintenance and repair;
• the device was damaged by external force, external influences or
intentionally;
• third party spare parts not approved by the company sera were installed.
Our obligations
In case of a guaranty claim, the sera GmbH at their own discretion obliges
to either repair the device, or to replace or repair the faulty part, or to replace
the device with a functioning product of the same value.
Your obligations
Important: In case the device is faulty, please first consult our retailer where
you purchased the device and let him check whether a guaranty case is
applicable before you turn in the device as a complaint. This is the only
way to avoid unnecessary freight costs you could possibly be charged for.
Then turning the device in it must be carefully protected against possible
transport damages.
