The content of the muscles usually stays within the following ranges (only the normal
range is indicated):
Age
Woman
10 - 99
> 34
Bone mass:
Our bones as well as our whole body are subject to the ageing process and all its conse-
quences. During the childhood the bone mass is increasing fast and reaches its maximum
at the age of 30-40. Then the bone mass is decreasing. You can influence the ageing
process by a healthy nutrition (esp. calcium and vitamin D) and by a continuous physical
exercise. In addition to that you can sustain your bones by a specific muscle formation.
Bone mass and bone density are different factors. Please do not confuse them.
The latter can only be detected by a medical examination (e. g. computer to
mography, ultra sound). For this reason the scale cannot be used to identify
changes or the bones or their durability.
The bone mass can hardly be influenced but is changing according to factors like weight,
body height, age or gender.
