ENERAL INFORMATION ON COMPLETING
THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS
! Soldering is required before this product can be used. A
certain minimum of care is required when carrying out the
soldered joints, as they have a crucial influence on the
model's operational security:
Use only a type of solder suitable for electronic soldering.
Do not use acid-based soldering flux.
Do not overheat or underheat parts to be soldered.
Use a soldering iron of adequate power (wattage).
Take care to produce technically sound soldered joints:
Always bear in mind that - in the worst case - one defective
soldered joint could mean the loss of your model!
Do not subject the Current Sensor 150 A to excessive heat
during the soldering procedure.
If you are not confident at soldering, ask a modeller with
experience in the technique to help you.
! Be sure to use cables of adequate conductor cross-
section!
For loads up to max. 50 A: at least 5.0 mm².
For loads up to max. 100 A: at least 12.0 mm².
For loads up to max. 150 A: at least 16.0 mm².
You may find it necessary to replace existing power leads
with cable of larger cross-sectional area (
! Never solder the connectors directly to the Current Sen-
sor 150 A (# 8 5405), as dissipated heat could damage the
unit!
It is always better to solder the cables to the circuit board
of the Current Sensor 150 A, and then solder the connec-
tors to the bare wire ends if necessary. A wire length of a
few cm is sufficient.
! Use only high-current connectors!
7. W
IRING THE CURRENT SENSOR
1. Undo the two Torx screws (T6) on the underside of the case,
and separate the case halves (
2. The Current Sensor 150 A (# 8 5405) is looped in between the
flight battery and the consumer unit (speed controller / ESC). It
can either be looped into the negative wire (
positive wire (

! Caution:
Ensure that the cables and connector systems attached
to your components, including the flight battery, speed
controller etc., are adequately specified for your instal-
lation. Please observe the recommendations in Chapter
(
6.).
It might be necessary to increase the size of the
connecting leads and / or the connector systems, which
may mean replacing them (
Always bear in mind that - in the worst case - cables and /
or connector systems of inadequate current-handling
capacity can result in the loss of a model!
a) Looping the current sensor into the negative wire
Cut through the negative wire attached to the con-
sumer unit (speed controller / ESC); see also

Solder both cut ends of the negative wire directly to the
two solder pads of the current sensor. The correct
arrangement of the solder pads relative to the two
wires (towards the flight battery, and towards the speed
controller / ESC) can be seen in
! Note: you may need to shorten the negative wire at the
cut point before soldering the ends to the sensor pads.
b) Looping the current sensor into the positive wire

3. If the RESET button will not be accessible when the sensor is
installed in the model, please carry out the procedure des-
cribed in Chapter (
8.) at this point.
4. Check one last time that your soldered joints are sound before
replacing the circuit board complete with soldered cables in
the top section of the case.
5. Now offer up the bottom case section:
You may need to open up the cable exit openings in the
underside of the case using a round file; you will find cut-lines
marked in the underside of the case for this purpose.
6. Re-fit the two Torx screws (T6) to join the case halves; take
care not to over-tighten the screws.
7. Check that the result of your work looks like this:
If you have looped the current sensor into the negative
wire: see the wiring diagram in

! Note: if the Current Sensor 150 A is looped into the circuit
"the wrong way round", it simply generates negative values.
This will not damage the unit.
8. Now configure the current sensor using the MULTImate or
the MULTIPLEX Launcher PC program (
11.).
If you wish to set up option values and alarm thresholds, wher-
ever possible you should do this before installing the current
sensor in the model, as the unit - like all other M-LINK sensors -
must be connected to the MULTImate or the PC (MULTIPLEX
Launcher) on its own for the configuration procedure.
9. Secure the current sensor in the model using Velcro (hook-
and-loop) tape. Alternatively screws can be used.
10. Locate the three-core UNI lead attached to the current sensor
(marked "RX / S") to socket "S" or "SENSOR" on the tele-
metry-capable M-LINK receiver.
Alternatively:
Connect the three-core UNI lead ("RX / S") within the MSB
(MULTIPLEX Sensor Bus) to a further sensor using the "MSB"
or "S" socket.
! Note: take care to maintain the correct pin orientation, and
ensure connector compatibility when connecting the UNI lead
("RX / S") - especially if using non-MPX products:
