Testing the SRL
NOTE:
For the Merit Lite Program, if the load indicator of the special snaphook deployed, the shear pin may
be replaced and the SRL tested a second time (to verify the shear pin did not fail due to fatigue). Use
replacement shear pin from the kit, P/N 10158302. For EN 360 standard testing program, the standard
requirement needs to be complied to.
NOTE:
An SRL that does not pass this test must have its brake assembly and pawl springs replaced.
(1)
Raise the test weight with the winch until 12 inches (+/- 1 inch)
(304,8mm +/- 25,4mm) of the Workman SRL lifeline is extended
from the nozzle to the grip by the snaphook.
(2)
Release the weight assembly by activating the quick release
mechanism.
(3)
For the Merite Lite Programm, record the SRL extension. The SRL
passes the extension requirement if the extension is between 8
and 40 inches (203.2 and 1016mm). In addition, the load indicator
on the special snaphook must not deploy.
(4)
For the Merit Program, record the force. The SRL passes the force
requirement if the peak force is less than 1800lbs (816,5kg) and
the average force is less than 900lbs (408,2kg). For the Merit Lite
Program, observe the load indicator of the special snaphook. The
SRL passes the force requirement if the load indicator has not
deployed.
