9. CARD READER 16-616

9.1. Description
The card reader module is always used in combination with lock 1 of the interface. Hold the supplied
electric card in front of the module to open the lock. You can order additional cards (16-616-01).
The system administrator can give or refuse access to every electronic key individually. In case of a
power failure, the settings are not lost. The card reader is used in combination with other modules
from the range Access Control Design. The module is built-in into an external unit of the range and
cannot be used as a stand-alone appliance.
9.2. Installation
First mount the modules that have to be placed on top of the card reader. Connect the flat cable
and mount the module in the external unit by means of the 4 supplied screws (see '2. Mounting
the modules').
9.3. programming
In the supplied folder, you find 24 cards: 10 access cards, 10 shadow cards and 4 printed cards.
For every access card you give to a user of the system, there is a corresponding shadow card you
keep for yourself. You are being advized to mark the corresponding cards immediately, so you can
easily identify them later on. You best mark them with the name of the user or a number. If a user of
the system looses his card or he should not have access any longer, you can devalue the user card
by means of the corresponding shadow card.
To program the cards, proceed as follows:
1. Taking the card reader into use
Hold the ENROLMENT CARD in front of the reader to activate all cards of the supplied starter kit.
You hear a beep in confirmation. Check if all cards function well by holding a number of random
cards in front of the reader. If you hear a beep, lock 1 is activated.
