This Service Manual is intended to be used by qualified personnel with training in installation, operation and
maintenance of Smashweld 316 assembly and Smashweld 316Topflex power source.
People with no proper training or qualification must not be allowed to perform any completion of service or
repair, installation, operation in this equipment.

2) DESCRIPTION
2.1) General characteristic
Smashweld 316 is a semi-automatic equipment for MIG/MAG welding which combines in a single unit one
power source with characteristics of constant voltage, one wire feeder, one platform for the shielding gas
cylinder and a hose to connect the gas to the machine.
Smashweld 316 Topflex is a power source with characteristics of constant voltage projected to be coupled
to the ESAB wire feeder model Origo™ Feed. This feeder is mounted in a suport on the power source with
the command and power cables according to the desired length.

Both Smashweld 316 and Smashweld 316 Topflex allow welding with solid wires of carbon steel, stainless
steel and aluminum alloys and also with tubular wires of up to 1.20 mm diameter.
The empty voltage is adjusted through a combination of two selecting switches which allows a wide and
precise adjustment of the welding voltage for any application within the equipment usage range.
