Safety instructions in accordance with Directive 94/9/CE - V series
12. FASTENING THE COMPONENTS TO THE BASE
The pumps supplied already coupled to an electric motor by joints and any mechanical
gearboxes, and have, during assembly in the factory, already had the various drive shafts
aligned. Nonetheless, during installation on site, the alignment must be checked again, as
follows:
- arrange the base on the floor, inserting the anchor bolts in the holes on the base, without
however tightening them;
-remove the coupling guards;
-tighten the anchor bolts and check the axial, radial and parallel alignment, as described in
the manual for the individual joints;
-reposition the coupling guards before starting the pump.
Furthermore, it is essential to periodically check the tightening torque of the bolts that fasten
the individual components to the base (including the screws that secure the coupling guard).
13. CAVITATION
Cavitation, as well as damaging the pump, is a dangerous phenomenon in potentially explosive
atmospheres: make sure that the pump has been correctly selected by referring to the NPSH(R)
(required) curves for the pump. The installer must calculate the NPSH(D) (available) of the
system (thus also considering the filters, the valves and all the fluid pressure drops on the
suction side).
Varisco S.p.A. accepts no liability for any malfunctions caused due to an inadequate
NPSH available, and simply provides the required NPSH value of the pump
