Regardless of the shaft material, the inner shaft wall should be as smooth as possible. With laminated shafts, use
e.g. a double layer of Dacron felt for a smooth shaft interior.
Make sure that the valve is incorporated as distally as possible; in any case, it must be located below the sealing
lips.
The following aspects should be checked and can help to improve the fit:
Fit
• Can the user put the shaft on easily?
Volume
• Is there full contact between the sealing lips and the inner shaft wall?
• Do air pockets develop when under a load? How good is the proximal fit?
Adhesion
• Is there little or no travel?
• Is there no visible movement when pulling on the prosthesis?
• Is there rotational stability?
• Is full movement possible without affecting the adhesion?
PUTTING ON THE LINER
Procedure
Before putting the liner on, make sure that it is clean and dry and that the sealing lips are clean and free of debris.
Turn the liner completely inside-out so that the distal end is exposed.
The use of talc or spray is not required due to the Easy-Glide Plus coating.
CAUTION! The long-term use of alcohol spray can damage the Easy Glide Plus coating.
Hold the liner as shown (Fig. 3). Now place the flat surface on the end of the residual limb and slide the Liner
carefully over the residual limb without producing wrinkles (Fig. 4).
Check if there are any air pockets. If air pockets exist, please massage them out. If wrinkles form, please take the
liner off and put it on again.
CHECKING THE FIT
After the liner has been put on, we recommend that you check the fit. In particular, the area of the sealing lips
should be examined. Criteria that indicate that the liner is too tight can be, for example:
• the liner shows strong constriction in the area of the sealing lips
