7.1 CALCULATION OF MINIMUM SAFETY DISTANCE

The LSP should be mounted respecting a certain distance between the safety device and the
closest point of risk to the operator in the machine in accordance with a calculation based on
the characteristics of the LSP and the machine.
The application of this calculation is regulated by ISO 13855 standard which the effective
field sensitivity must be installed at a minimum distance from the nearest point recognized as
dangerous, since operators or third parties may not invade the danger zone with the hand or
any part of their body before it stopped moving during the dangerous machine cycle.
Never install the LSP in a position that is supposed to be the ideal.
The calculation of the minimum safety distance is important for proper installation of the LSP.

7.2 CALCULATING FORMULA FOR THE SAFETY DISTANCE (ISO 13855)

Where:
S = Minimum safety distance between the safety device and the point recognized as dangerous.
K = Operator's hand shift speed.
The value usually for the Light Curtain (LSP14 and LSP29) is 2,000 mm/s.
The value usually for the Multiple Beam Device (LSP300) is 1,600 mm/s.
