2.3 BEHAVIOR

With monitoring area unobstructed the two outputs of the receiver module switch and remain
in the ON STATE allowing the machine connected the device to operate normally.
When an object is introduced in the monitoring area and interrupts one of the light beams, the
safety device switch the outputs to OFF STATE and remain in this state until thats object was
removed of detection zone.

2.3.1 Emitter

The emitter consists in infrared emitting elements, synchronized control circuits with
microcontrollers and visual signaling.
The infrared light emitters are driven by a micro-controlled system. The radiated light is coded
and modulated at a specific frequency to ensure immunity to other types of light sources.
The emitter contains a self-check system that monitors its internal circuit which in the event of
failure or tampering inhibits optical emission and show the fault condition by visual signaling.

2.3.2 Receiver

The receiver consists of detector elements, control circuits, visual signaling and digital safety
outputs.
The incoming light is converted into electrical signals which are analyzed by micro-controllers
and after acceptance of these signals, digital outputs are activated. In case of obstruction of
one or more light beams, the safety outputs are switched off, stopping the machine or systems
connected to them.
During operation, the unit constantly monitors the circuits and safety outputs. In case of failure,
the system will indicate by visual signaling and turn off the safety outputs.
The self-check system will act when: failure exists in the internal circuits or one of the outputs
of the dual channel is in failure.
Once in failure mode when reset normal operating conditions the equipment must be
disconnected and energized to re-operate.
