TKO 1500
Adjustable Stability with Independent
Swing Phase Control
The TKO 1500™ is a new and unique prosthetic
knee, designed to overcome the primary
disadvantage of existing mechanical friction
locking knees. Unlike previous stance control
mechanisms, the TKO 1500™ offers the
amputee freedom to initiate knee flexion while
the foot remains on the ground.
By eliminating the need to hip hike or vault to
initiate swing, the TKO 1500™, like the award
winning TOTAL KNEE®, reduces unnecessary
energy expenditure. Stance security at heel
contact through mid-stance is coupled with the
ability to initiate knee flexion from terminal
stance to pre-swing. The level of stability is
adjustable. Based on alignment adjustment, the
TKO can be locked from initial contact through
mid-stance.
Built to last, the TKO 1500™ has large
encapsulated ball bearings with an
encapsulated lock mechanism. The internal
parts do not require service or adjustments,
other than a 6-month inspection and lubrication.
The independent constant friction brake and
extension assist systems are easily adjusted or
replaced. Based on proven bio-mechanical
principles, the TKO 1500™ allows the amputee
to develop a more normal and consistent gait
pattern.
Made in the U.S.A. of high strength stainless
steel for amputees weighing up to 100 kg (220
lbs), the TKO 1500™ weighs less than 500
grams (1.10 lbs) and is fully warranted.

Installation Procedure
Assembly of Extension Assist Unit
• Slide the Cable Casing (18) onto the Cable
(17).
• Slide the Upper Spring Retainer (19) onto
the cable (17).
