Measures before mounting

Observe the prerequisites for the mounting location
Before mounting the Outdoor Unit, carry out a site survey to determine the
correct placement of the device and the antennas for optimum RF
coverage, a stable data connection and good integration into a lightning
protection system.
The following prerequisites should be fulfilled at the mounting location:
• Access to power and network
• Access to mounting location and line of sight to surveilled area
• The available mounting structures make it possible to align the top side of
the Outdoor Unit horizontally and even with the connections pointing
downwards.
• The mounting structure must be firmly anchored in the ground and have
sufficient load-bearing capacity. With regard to the load-bearing capacity,
take into consideration that a build-up of ice can increase the weight of the
device and the antennas considerably. Information on the weight of the
Outdoor Unit can be found in the datasheet.
• The device may be operated only within the ambient temperature range
as stated in the specifications of the datasheet.
• Weather and bird guard are available (see Mounting the weather guard
on page 64 and Mounting the bird guard on page 65).
• To avoid overloading the device, do not place the antennas in the direct
vicinity of strong transmitter antennas.
 The datasheet for the Outdoor Unit can be downloaded from the
following address:
Further notes for correct mounting of an ADFA
• To avoid overloading the device, do not place the antenna in the direct
vicinity of strong transmitter antennas.
• No obstacles up to a distance of 50 m from the antenna.
• Only low obstacles at a distance of between 50 m and 100 m from the
antenna.
• No large structures, such as high-voltage masts or high-rise buildings up
to a distance of 400 m from the antenna.
• No obstacles outside a cone with an angle of 120° underneath the
direction finding antenna.
