Warning: the removal bell thread's size is M22 x 2.0. If
using the Würth slide hammer 1952 004 050 with a pressure
weight of 9 kg, it should be used with the corresponding
increased threaded socket 18 x 1.5 on M 22x2.0. If using
other slide hammers available on the market, you must check
in advance if the threaded rod can be screwed directly or
only with the help of a threaded socket.
3. Use a suitable lift to raise the car a short distance from the floor.
Vigorously move the slide hammer at the rear resistance until
the wheel hub has been fully removed. Fig. 35+36
Wheel hub mechanical assembly
The wheel hubs can be properly assembled after replacing the
wheel bearing.
1. Move the CV joint from the rear through the outside diameter of
the wheel bearing.
2. Screw the threaded adapter, corresponding to the thread on
the end of the CV joint, to the thread of the threaded traction
pin.
3. Connect the adapter unit and the threaded traction pin with the
end of the CV joint.
Warning: due to partially high tensile forces, be
sure to screw the adapter all the way!
4. Secure the spacers to the wheel hubs removed as described in
step 1 of paragraph "Mechanical removal of the CV joint". (Fig.
2)
Note: in most cases you can fix the wheel hubs flange directly
to the wheel hubs with the wheels' bolts and/or the original
nuts. The unit becomes shorter and more compact due the
missing spacers, which makes it easier to move.
5. Screw the thrust bearing support into the bell. (Fig. 15)
6. Fit the extraction flange on the spacers in the wheel hubs. (Fig.
16)
7. Insert the bell into the support on the extraction flange from the
front. (Fig. 17)
8. Align the semicircular recesses on the bell's outside diameter
exactly at the flange's division.
9. Secure the extraction flange using the washers and nuts and
engage the thrust bearing into the bell's support. (Fig. 18)
Do not use the pulse screwdriver!
10. Place the unit, consisting of the wheel hubs/spacers/flange/
bell and thrust bearing on the vehicle's axle. At the same time,
