OPERATION
To remove:
 Pull the release tab toward the power base with one hand
and rotate the power base with the other hand. When the
arrow on the drill head aligns with the arrow on the power
base, pull the head away from the base to separate.

OVERLOAD PROTECTION

If the tool is forced or is overloaded, the power base will
automatically shut off, you will hear Tone 1 (three fast, high-
pitched beeps), and the Ready LED will flash red. To reset
the tool, release the trigger, then resume operation. Do not
force the tool.
HIGH TEMPERATURE PROTECTION
If the tool or battery overheats, the tool will automatically shut
off, you will hear Tone 1 (three fast, high-pitched beeps), and
the Ready LED will light solid red. The Ready LED will turn
green when the tool is cool and ready to resume operation.
If the trigger is pulled before the tool has sufficiently cooled
the Ready LED will flash red and you will hear Tone 1 (three
fast, high-pitched beeps).
VARIABLE SPEED SWITCH TRIGGER
See Figure 4, page 9.
When connected to this drill head, the variable speed
switch trigger on the power base delivers higher speed with
increased trigger pressure and lower speed with decreased
trigger pressure.
To turn the drill ON, depress the switch trigger. To turn it
OFF, release the switch trigger and allow the chuck to come
to a complete stop.
NOTE: A whistling or ringing noise coming from the switch
during use is a normal part of the switch function.
NOTE: Running at low speeds under constant usage may
cause the drill to become overheated.
DIRECTION OF ROTATION SELECTOR
(FORWARD/REVERSE/CENTER LOCK)
See Figure 4, page 9.
Set the direction of rotation selector in the OFF (center lock)
position to lock the switch trigger and help prevent accidental
starting when not in use.
Position the direction of rotation selector to the left of the
switch trigger for forward drilling. Position the selector to the
right of the switch trigger to reverse the direction.
NOTE: The drill will not run unless the direction of rotation
selector is pushed fully to the left or right.
NOTICE:
To prevent gear damage, always allow the chuck
to come to a complete stop before changing the
direction of rotation.
WARNING:
Battery tools are always in operating condition.
Lock the switch when not in use or carrying at your
side, when installing or removing the battery pack,
and when installing or removing bits.
LED WORK LIGHT
See Figures 4 - 5, page 9.
The LED work light, located on the front of the drill head,
illuminates when either the switch trigger or the LED grip
light switch is depressed.
If the drill is not in use, the time-out feature will cause the
light to start fading and then shut off.
The LED work light illuminates only when there is a charged
battery pack in the power base and the drill head is correctly
installed.
INSTALLING/REMOVING BITS
See Figures 6 - 7, pages 9 - 10.
 Remove the battery pack from the power base.
 To install bits: insert the chuck key provided and twist
counterclockwise. Open or close the chuck jaws to a point
where the opening is slightly larger than the bit size you
intend to use. Also, raise the front of the drill slightly to
keep the bit from falling out of the chuck jaws.
 Insert the drill bit.
WARNING:
Make sure to insert the drill bit straight into the
chuck jaws. Do not insert the drill bit into the chuck
jaws at an angle then tighten. This could cause
the drill bit to be thrown from the drill, resulting
in possible serious personal injury or damage to
the chuck.
 Tighten the chuck jaws securely on the drill bit, turning
clockwise with the chuck key provided. Do not use a
wrench to tighten or loosen the chuck jaws. For best
performance, repeat this for the remaining two key holes.
 Remove the chuck key and return it to the storage area.
 To remove bits: insert the chuck key provided and twist
counterclockwise.
 Remove the drill bit.
 Remove the chuck key and return it to the storage area.
