Never attempt to straighten or weld
a bent or cracked cutting tool – it
might shatter and cause serious or
fatal injury.

Resharpen frequently, take away as
little material as possible – two or
three strokes of the file are usually
enough.
To avoid out-of-balance:
:
Resharpen the cutters (1) uniformly
– do not alter the contour of the
parent blade (2) in any way.
:
After resharpening about 5 times,
have blade checked on STIHL
balancer*.
FS 300, FS 350, FS 400, FS 450, FS 480
Grass Cutting Blades,
Brush Knife
Use a flat file* to sharpen dull cutting
grass cutting blades.
In case of more serious wear or nicks:
Resharpen with a grinder or have work
done by STIHL dealer.

Circular Saw Blades
Sharpen as described in the instructions
supplied or printed on the inside of the
blade's packaging.

Scratcher Tooth
Circular Saw Blades
Use a flat file to file the backs of the teeth
until the tips of the teeth are restored to
full sharpness.
