OPERATOR'S MANUAL FANS
Preface:
This operatorís manual has been prepared in
accordance with EU-directive 89/392EEC of
14 June 1989 regarding the convergence of
member states laws covering machines (Ma-
chinery Directive).
Marking/technical data:
See enclosed certificate.

low).
Description:
Please see the front of this manual.
Typical application:
The fan is used within environmental protec-
tion plants for the conveyance of material.
The capacity curves of the fan are measured
under the following conditions:
0
Temp.
= 20
C
(Rho.)
= 1,2 kg/m
Atm.
= 101330 Pa
The capacity curves will change as operating
conditions of the fan change.
Warning:
The fan can not be used in the petrochemical
industry.
The fan can not be used for long continuous
strands of material, as they would eventually
foul the impeller.
The fan must be installed in a closed sys-
tem. If it is not, it can only be switched on if
both the inlet and outlet are properly
guarded.
Ensure that the fan impellor is completely
stopped before disconnecting the inlet/outlet
pieces.
Any foreign objects allowed into the system,
intentionally or unintentionally, may eventu-
ally damage the impeller.
Lack of supervision of the fan can result in
wear and/or damage to vital parts.
The mounting of the fan must be as pre-
scribed (see mounting). Otherwise stability is
reduced and wear and tear increased.
Mounting:
Deflection is:
1 mm/100mm of T.
The specified mounting force is
stated on the fan certificate.
Pulley on motor
An eyelet bolt is fitted as standard to facilitate
lifting. The fan should be secured using foun-
dation bolts through the holes provided.
Vibration dampers can be fitted between the
foundation and the fan.
Requirement for foundation:
The foundation upon which the fan is
mounted must be stable and able to support
can
be
its weight as well as withstand the vibrations
of its operation.
with
a
Please note that when dimensioning the
foundation, the weight and vibrations from the
associated duct system must also be taken
into account.
Power installation:
The circuit must be completed by a qualified
electrician. He/she must ensure the installa-
tion of overload protection (the motor must
never be connected to power without it).
He/she must also ensure the installation of a
no-voltage release relay so that the motor
can never restart automatically after a power
failure.
3
In addition to the start/stop function normally
incorporated in a system control panel, a
separate lockable start/stop switch as well as
an emergency stop button must be installed
no more than 3 m from each fan. The first of
these will prevent any unintentional start
during service.
All local factory inspectorate regulations must
also be complied with.
Noise reduction:
Duct silencers can be fitted at both the inlet
and outlet. It is also possible to incapsulate
the fan in an acoustic booth.
Start-up:
Prior to start-up, check:
- that there are no foreign objects in the fan
housing and the associated duct system.
- that the fan rotation is correct (indicated on
fan housing with an arrow).
- that all parts including protective guards are
securely fastened.
Correct mounting of pulleys.
Service and maintenance (see enclosed
mounting instructions):
Visually check the fan after approximately 50
running hours. Thereafter make a full check
of all working parts every 1000 running hours.
The impeller is of self-cleaning design.
If the fan has interruptions in its operation,
notify the manufacturer (please see enclosed
fan certificate).
Maintain the electric motor according to the
manufacturerís instructions (found in the ter-
minal box).
Be aware that all bearings, as standard, have
a maximum operating temperature of 125
The following relates to K type fans:
Ball bearings without grease nipple must be
cleaned and re-greased according to the
stated intervals in the chart overleaf. Remove
the cap to the bearing housing and remove
all dirt and old grease.
Press new grease in between the bearings
housing and refit the cap. Ensure that the cap
is replaced exactly as it was removed. Use
ball bearing grease type LGMT 2 or a similar
type.
Bearings with grease nipple should be
greased according to the quantity and interval
indicated in the chart overleaf. The greasing
must be carried out while the transmission
shaft is turned manually in order to avoid
overfilling the bearing housing.
The bearings should also be disassambled
every 3 years and cleaned as per the instruc-
tions for bearings without nipple.
Quantity of grease (gram) = 0,005 x D x B
Outer diameter of the bearing = D (mm)
Width of the bearing
= B (mm)
Replacement V belts should be carefully
mounted after reducing the shaft center dis-
tance by lifting the motor plate. V belts must
not under any circumstances be forced over
the pulley with the help of any form of tool.
After checking that the shafts are parallel and
the grooves are flush, gently lower the plate
to apply initial tension (please see drawing).
The V belts are then tightened to the correct
tension according to the manufacturerís in-
structions on the enclosed fan certificate.
When the fan has run for approximately 50
hours, re-tension the V belts so that they are
tensioned evenly. Visually check the V belts
every 1000 working hours and when neces-
sary, replace them with belts of the same
type and manufacture as those described in
the fan certificate.
Incorrect mounting of pulleys.
