5. Place parts in a shallow pan and add enough chlorine solution to cover the device completely.
• Allow to soak for 60 minutes.
6. Hypochlorite/ Bleach Soak:
Use of highly alkaline detergents/ agents will cause a material degradation if present during autoclaving.
Ensure device is thoroughly rinsed and all detergents are removed prior to use.
• Prepare a hypochlorite/bleach solution. (Refer to Chemical/ Bleach soak instructions for
mixing instructions)
• Place parts in a shallow pan and add enough bleach solution to cover device completely.
• Soak for 60 minutes
• Remove the device from the bleach solution and rinse components completely with
water.
• Dry all components with a clean, soft towel
7. Sterilization/Autoclave
• The Skull Clamp may be autoclaved at 134° C for 18 minutes to 1 hour. The Skull Clamp
has been validated to withstand this process up to 15 times without loss of performance.

pathogens.

"Immerse [instrument] in sodium hypochlorite for 1 hour; remove and rinse with water, then transfer to
open pan and heat in a gravity displacement autoclave at (121° C) or porous load (134°C) for 1 hour."
The life expectancy of the MAYFIELD products is expected to be as long as 7 years.
