Charging
Charging takes approx. 10 hours. Charge the product before
you use it for the first time and when the display indicates that
the battery is almost empty or after non-use for a long period
of time.
-
Charging, recharging, or using the product at temperatures
below 40°F (4.5°C) or higher than 95°F (35°C) adversely
affects lifespan of the battery.
-
Continuously recharging the product will reduce lifespan of
the battery.
-
If the product is subjected to a major change in
temperature, pressure or humidity, let the product
acclimatize for 30 minutes before using.

Make sure the product is turned off (Fig. 2).
2 Put the small plug in the product and put the power plug in
the wall outlet (Fig. 3).
3 The charging light lights up to indicate that the product is
charging (Fig. 4).
4 After charging, remove the power plug from the wall outlet
and pull the small plug out of the product.
When the product is fully charged, it has a cordless operating
time of up to 45 minutes (BT1300/BT1200) or 30 minutes
(BT1100).
Note: An adapter plug may be necessary for cord usage in some
foreign countries. Use an attachment plug adapter of the proper
configuration for power outlet.
Optimizing the working life of the battery
- After the product has been charged for the first time,
do not recharge the product between trimming sessions.
Continue using it until the battery is completely empty.
- Do not charge for more than 24 hours.
- Do not keep cord permanently plugged in.
- Discharge/run down the battery completely twice a year by
letting the motor run until it stops.
- If the product hasn't been used for a long period of time,
it must be recharged for a full 10 hours.

Using the product
Always check the product and all accessories before you use
it. Do not use the product or any accessory if it is damaged,
as this may cause injury. Always replace a damaged part with
one of the original type.
- Use this product for its intended household use as described
in this manual.
- For hygienic reasons, the product should only be used by
one person.
- Trimming is easier when the skin and hair are dry.
- Turn off and clean the product after each use
(see‚ Cleaning').
Note: This product is for cordless use only.
Turning the product on and off
Push the on/off switch up to turn the product on (Fig. 6) or
down to turn the product off (Fig. 2).
Trimming with comb
Note: When you trim for the first time, start by using the comb at
the maximum trimming length setting to familiarize yourself with
the product.
- The fixed combs have 3 lengths that are indicated on
each comb.
- The adjustable comb has 5 hair length settings from
1/8–9/32 in./3–7mm in steps of 3/64 in./1mm.
- The indications on the combs correspond to the remaining
hair length after trimming.

Slide the comb onto the cutting element by pressing down
until it is fixed into place (Fig. 5).
Note: When you slide the adjustable comb all the way
down, you have selected the 1/8 in./3mm setting. Push the
comb up to select another length setting. Each click is a step
of 3/64 in./1mm.
2 Turn on the product (Fig. 6).
3 To trim most effectively, move the product against the hair
growth direction. Make sure that the surface of the comb
always stays in contact with the skin (Fig. 7).
Trimming without comb
You can use the product without comb to:
- Define hair lines
- Trim nape of neck
- Remove single, unwanted hairs
Note: Be careful when you are trimming without the comb as
when the product is turned on it will trim every hair it touches.

Push the back of the comb upwards until the comb slides
off the product (Fig. 8).
2 Turn on the product (Fig. 6).
3 Make well-controlled movements. Touch the hair/skin
lightly with the product.

For a comfortable trim close to your skin, place the flat
side of the trimming head against your skin and make
strokes against the direction of hair growth (Fig. 9).

For contouring, hold the trimming head perpendicular
to your skin and move the product upwards or
downwards with gentle pressure (Fig. 10).
Detail trimming (BT1300 only)
You can use the detail trimmer to create fine lines and contours
around your facial style, close to the skin (Fig. 13).
1 Remove the cutting element from the handle by gently
pushing the teeth of the cutting element upwards until it
releases (Fig. 11).
2 Attach the detail trimmer onto the product making sure the
projection on the back of the detail trimmer fits exactly into
the recesses in the hair chamber (Fig. 12).
3 Turn on the product (Fig. 6).
4 Hold the detail trimmer perpendicular to the skin and move
the detail trimmer upwards or downwards with gentle
pressure (Fig. 14).
Cleaning
- Never immerse the product in water or rinse under the tap.
- Never use scouring pads, abrasive cleaning agents or
aggressive liquids such as gasoline or acetone to clean the
product.
