MORDAZAS DE ALTA PRESION
The
box. This box is designed to be used as a storage compartment when the vice is not in use.
The vice is supplied with the following standard accessories;
E
The person in charge of setting up this vice should read these instructions before doing so.
TWIN vices incorporate a dual grip with a '' 3 rd Hand Function''. This system has been
designed to facilitate the placing of work-pieces in the vices. The 1 st work-piece is positioned and
gripped by turning the handle. The 2 nd work-piece is then placed and gripped by turning the
handle further. Once both parts are clamped, the required clamping pressure is achieved by the
internal hydraulic mechanism. The TW 125 regulator and pre-clamping system enables the vice
to clamp single solid parts or multiple parts. ''0'' working position should be used whenever elastic
or multiple work-pieces are to be machined.
Elastic and multiple work-pieces cannot be clamped with the TW-90 vice as this model has
no pre-clamping system.
Before setting up the vice, the work-table surface area should be clean of swarf and chippings.
The clamping elements supplied with the vice should be used in accordance to the work-
piece to be machined so that the union between the vice and table is as rigid as possible.
If the vice is not fixed correctly, there could be a fall in clamping pressure, vibration and
excessive wear on the cutting tools.
The vice has adjustable slots for correct positioning on the table.
A.- Operation of the vice
The TW-125 vice is supplied with a clamping pressure regulator. This system is composed
by a ''0'' position , identified as mechanical pre-clamping (without high pressure) and 5 consecutive
high pressure positions. All of them are marked with a number which is equivalent to the pressure
in tons. The TW-90 is not supplied with this system.
In order to activate the TW-125 regulator, the handle must be placed into the female hex
(#4139) and the knurled sleeve (#4136) rotated to coincide with the required pressure. Each
number represents the approximate clamping pressure in '000 tons and the ''0'' position is the
mechanical pre-clamping location. Once the clamping pressure has been selected, the vice jaws
move towards the centre by turning the handle clockwise. When the jaws reach the work-pieces,
one must continue to turn the handle. This will then activate the hydraulic power booster and the
selected pressure will be generated on the work-pieces. There is a positive stop which indicates
the end of the operation at the required pressure. Excessive effort in turning the handle will not
generate greater clamping pressure and could cause dammage.
The ''0'' position provides a simple mechanical clamp, without any power booster. The handle,
therefore, should not be forced. This position is recommended in pre-clamping operations for
multiple parts or for pieces requiring little clamping pressure.
Both vice models TW-90 and TW-125 are capable of clamping 2 parts simmultaneously or
1 part only. The vice allows clamping parts with 5mm difference in size, on either side of the
central jaw. This vice can also clamp a single part. To do this, the part must be located on the
opposite side to the handle. High pressure on single parts will only be activated on this clamping
station. To grip a single large size part, the jaw on the opposite side to the handle must be
removedand the central jaw fixed in its place.
B.- Cleaning and maintenance
Due to the unfavourable conditions (swarth, coolants, high pressure, etc.) with which these
vices have to work inside the machining centres, it is important that the vice is cleaned regularily.
