2.1.
SUPERFICIAL PAIN (DIA.)
1. General:
Programme for the treatment of pain related disorders by using the milder current
forms of diadynamic current as described by dr. Bernard.
2. Indication:
Superficial, sharp and/or dull pain.
3. Treatment time:
8 minutes.
4. Remarks:
Diadynamic current is a Direct Current. At higher current densities DC may cause tissue
damage. Intensity should not exceed 0.2mA/cm
use thick pads/sponges (min. 1 cm).
5. Programme:
2 min. DF, 3 min. LP , automatic polarity reverse 3 min. LP
6. Sensation:
Tickling, prickling followed by alternately light to moderate vibrations.
7. Intensity level:
Clearly to strongly perceptible, preferably just below motoric threshold.
2.2.
NEUROGENIC (DIA.)
1. General:
Programme for the treatment of neurogenic pain by using the CP form of diadynamic
current (CP = courant modulé en Courtes Périodes) and automatic polarity reverse.
2. Indication:
Neuralgia, causalgia, post-herpetic neuralgia, phantom limb pain (besides pain relief,
local circulation is increased).
3. Treatment time:
6 minutes.
4. Remarks:
Diadynamic current is a Direct Current. At higher current densities DC may cause tissue
damage. Intensity should not exceed 0.2 mA/cm
ably use thick pads/sponges (min. 1cm).
5. Programme:
3 min. CP , automatic polarity reverse, 3 min. CP
6. Sensation:
Alternately light and rough vibrations.
7. Intensity level:
Clearly perceptible, not painful. Preferably just below motoric threshod.
2.3.
ACUTE PHASE (MF)
1. General:
Programme for Medium Frequency current (interferential current, bipolar mode) using
varying parameters in order to prevent accommodation.
2. Indication:
Acute pain in absence of muscular hypertonia or as initial treatment for patients who
are extremely sensitive.
3. Treatment time:
15 minutes.
4. Remarks:
No DC component, the risk for electrochemical damage (chemical burn) is minimal.
5. Programme:
IF, 10 kHz, AMF 100 Hz, 3 min.
IF, 10 kHz, AMF 80 Hz, frequency sweep 80 Hz, sweep cycle 12/12, 15 min.
6. Sensation:
Mild, rhythmically occurring tingling sensation.
7. Intensity level:
Just perceptible to clearly perceptible (sensoric stimulation).
2.4.
SUBACUTE PHASE (MF)
1. General:
Programme for Medium Frequency current (interferential current, bipolar mode) using
varying parameters in order to prevent accommodation.
2. Indication:
Acute and subacute pain with symptoms of muscular hypertonia.
3. Treatment time:
15 minutes.
4. Remarks:
No DC component, the risk for electrochemical damage (chemical burn) is minimal.
5: Programme:
IF, 6 kHz, AMF 60 Hz, 3 min.
IF, 6 kHz, AMF 30 Hz, frequency sweep 50 Hz, sweep cycle 6/6, 12 min.
6. Sensation:
Clearly perceptible, varying tingling sensation.
7. Intensity level:
Strong perceptible, but not painful (just below motoric threshold).
