[B] Care and Maintenance
[C] Use
Ideally, the device should be used when perpendicular to the stem.
1. Maximum Rope Diameter stated on product, ranging from 13mm – 20mm
2. Ensure both plates are closed and locked into place using the spring-loaded locking axle and
lock button (RP2XX models) or the screw mechanism (RP056 model).
3. Ensure that the spring loaded locking axle is securely in position. For RP0XX models, ensure
that the lock button has located into the corresponding groove in the locking axle and has
sprung out to prevent the locking axle from rotating. Similarly, ensure the screw is fully locked
for use (RP056 model).
4. Two lines are connected to the device – the Topping Strop (top) and the Working Line (bottom)
[D] Misuse
The product is meant for use as part of a rigging system, primarily for the arborist industry. It is
NOT designed to be used for Live Loads
1. Do not use the device while it rests over protrusions from the tree, or at an angle
2. Ensure that the spring-loaded locking axle pin is secure in its slot. For RP2XX models, ensure
that the lock button is engaged with the corresponding groove in the locking axle.
3. Do not overload the working line as damage can be caused leading to an unsafe device
4. Ensure that the spring-loaded axle or screw mechanism faces away from the tree when in use
[E] Plate Operation
1. Free the plate by pushing and rotating the locking axle or screw mechanism. For RP2XX models,
free the plate by pushing the lock button and rotating the locking axle half a turn
2. Once unlocked, the plate is able to revolve in either direction to ease the insertion of the lines
3. Once inserted, return the plate to its original position and replace the locking axle or screw
(RP0XX models). For RP2XX models, once loaded return the plate to its original position and lock
the locking axle by pushing down onto the lock button, followed by half a turn to re-align the
groove in the locking axle with the lock button. Ensure that the plate is properly locked back
into place before use and that the lock button has 'clicked' back out to secure the locking axle.
4. Ensure the plate is properly locked back into place before use
[F] Pre-use Check
1. Check the body and moving mechanisms for any damage prior to use
2. Check for ease of movement with the plate and locking axle
3. Check locking action. On RP2XX models check locking button return spring action
[G] Locking Mechanism
1. Push and twist locking axle or screw mechanism to release its grip
2. Locate the spring loaded lock button (RP2XX models only) and locking axle at the top of the
device
