Thank you for purchasing an OEHLBACH
General
The OEHLBACH
PHASER phase tester (part 17017) is intended for the rapid and simple
®
detection of the phase-proper polarity of audio and video components. If you connect a
number of hi-fi , video or home cinema devices to a multiple outlet strip without taking
account of their phase, the earth potential equalising currents cause perceptible interfe-
rence. This cannot happen if you connect correctly to a phase-identifi ed mains strip (such

quality.
Inserting the battery
Use the Allen key supplied to open the side of the device on which the "9 V Block" symbol
is located. Now connect the 9 V battery supplied to the terminals provided and stow the
battery in an upright position in the tester (photo). Avoid mechanical stress when screwing
down the side cover. The device is now ready for use.
We recommend that you remove the battery if you will not be using the tester for some
time.
Battery charge indicator LED
The yellow „BATT. LOW" LED
replace the 9 V battery if this occurs, otherwise perfect operation of the device cannot be
guaranteed.
Determining the phase of your devices using the polarity tester
Switch off the power switch on the device for which you wish to determine the phase
difference. On a device with a separate main power switch, switch this off, too. Then
connect the device to the OEHLBACH
the „TEST" button. One of the two red LEDs
indicate the phase on the connected device. To check, you can now remove the device
plug from the phase tester, turn it through 180° and plug it in again. The other red LED
