Serial Communications Port
The EXP 24 provides one serial communication port for setup. The serial interface is a two wire isolated
RS-485 network. The EXP24 supports the Modbus RTU protocol for access to all parameters. The
Default baud rate is 19.2k. The default Modbus address is 1. Always use 3 conductor cable to be sure
the Serial Data Common is connected to all other commons on the RS485 network. An on board
terminating resistor is provided, one side of the resistor is internally connected to Serial Data B, to
connect the termination add a jumper between Serial Data A (J 24) and Serial Term Res (J3).
Termination is not usually recommended at 19.2 k baud unless the RS 485 cable is longer than 1000 ft.
