CHECKING DRIVE CHAIN SLACK

Turn the wheel several times to locate the tightest por-
tion of the chain. Check and/or adjust the chain when it

is taut to the maximum extent possible.
To check chain slack, the vehicle must be upright, the two wheels
8
must be touching the ground, and there should be nobody sitting
on it. Check slack in the position shown in the illustration. Stand-
ard vertical movement is approximately 25-40 mm. If movement
9
exceeds 40 mm, adjust chain slack.

ADJUSTING DRIVE CHAIN SLACK
25 ÷ 40 mm
To adjust chain slack, loosen the wheel fixing nut, B, locknut C
and turn adjusting screw V. After adjusting, tighten the locknut, C,
and bolt, B.

This operation must be performed on both sides of the
rear fork; adjustment must be identical on both sides;
to obtain this condition, refer to scale G located on the
fork.
An excessively taut chain will put the engine and drive
components under excessive strain; maintain chain
tightness within the specified limits.
Whilst carrying out these adjustments, hold the vehicle
firmly in place, otherwise it will fall over.
