GENERAL
Multi-cylinder engines require a synchronous opening
of the throttle.
By tolerances in the intake system, a setting of the
throttle stop is not sufficient.
That's requires a dynamic settings.
By synchronizing the same negative pressure is
reached before the carburettor.
To sync the carburettor a dial gauge for each
carburettor is required.
The matching on each carburettor is done by
adjustment mechanisms.
SYNCHRONIZATION
For motorcycles, the tank must be removed to reach the carburettor system. In this area, near by the
carburettor, there are connections for tester. Most motorcycles have caps on the connection. For car
carburettor systems, the connections are on the carburettors and are closed with screw plugs. After
removing the screws or the caps, the hoses and gauges can be connected directly or by means of an
adapter.
After the meter is connected, the engine can be started. For motorcycle, the carburettors must be
connected to through a long hose to the tank.
TWO-CYLINDER-ENGINES
Between the carburettors there is a operating linkage with an adjustment screw. By turning the
adjustment screw the throttle valve of one carburettor be open more than the other one. The readings
on the clocks are adjusted so that the carburettor's the two cylinders of equal value. After this
adjustment give a little bit to gas and compare the readings. After synchronize of the carburettors,
adjustment of idle speed is necessary.
MORE THAN TWO-CYLINDER-ENGINES
Here are several adjustment screws available. Four-cylinder, have three adjustment screws. A screw
located between the outer two carburettors and one in the middle. First, two outer carburettors are
synchronized like the 2-cylinder engine. Then adjust of the other two outer carburettors. The
displayed values of different groups, 2 left and right carburettors are not taken into account. If both
carburettors of both groups synchronized, adjust the values of the two carburettor groups
Note: At carburettors that are activated by several cable, as e.g. for motorcycles of the manufacturer
e.g. BMW and Moto Guzzi. There must be done a basic setting according to the manufacturer, before
synchronized the carburettors.
