• wear suitable goggles during cleaning and sanitizing operations to protect the eyes against splashes
of the substances used
• take care not to spill water or solutions on the electric wiring of the appliance or the power supply
cable
9.3.a CLEANING
TO ENSURE CORRECT CLEANING OF THE ICE FLAKER, PERFORM THE OPERATIONS
DESCRIBED IN THIS CHAPTER AT LEAST ONCE A FORTNIGHT.
1. switch off appliance by luminous button (13 in Fig. 3) and disconnect it from mains power
supply
2. prepare a 25% solution of water and white vinegar
3. remove top of the appliance by lifting rear part and releasing it from front hooks (Fig. 9). The top
is secured to the rear panel of the appliance with a screw, which must be removed before lifting
the top and repositioned when cleaning operations are finished
4. remove rear panel by loosening fixing screws and raising it (Fig. 10)
5. open lid of water supply basin (Fig. 11)
6. connect appliance to mains power supply and switch it on by pressing luminous switch
(13 in Fig. 3)
7. pour at least ½ gallon (2 liters) of solution into the basin, taking care to keep the basin full at all
times
8. while pouring the solution, keep the basin float raised with a non-metal stick (Fig. 12) without
using too much force, until the whole of the solution has been used; then release the float
9. switch off appliance by luminous button (13 in Fig. 3) and disconnect it from mains power
supply
10. remove all ice from bin
11. clean ice outlet (15 in Fig. 13), ice bin, door, water supply basin lid and bin thermostat
(16 in Fig. 13) with water and vinegar solution; spray the solution directly onto the components
to be cleaned and spread with a sponge and a soft brush
12. rinse components previously cleaned
13. refit lid of water supply basin
14. discard all ice produced during cleaning operations
15. reposition rear panel and top of the appliance, secure it with screws

IMPORTANT: All the ice produced during the first 30 minutes after cleaning operations a
must be discarded.
9.3.b SANITIZING
TO ENSURE CORRECT SANITIZING THE ICE FLAKER, PERFORM THE OPERATIONS
DESCRIBED IN THIS CHAPTER AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH.
Use a solution of 200 mg/l of sodium hypochlorite and water (or a solution of ½ oz. of bleach per
gallon of water) or a solution that conforms to 40 C.F.R. 180.940.
1. switch off appliance by luminous button (13 in Fig. 3) and disconnect it from mains power
supply
2. prepare sanitizing solution
3. remove top of the appliance by lifting rear part and releasing it from front hooks (Fig. 9). The top
is secured to the rear panel of the appliance with a screw, which must be removed before lifting
the top and repositioned when sanitizing operations are finished
4. remove rear panel by loosening fixing screws and raising it (Fig. 10)
5. open lid of water supply basin (Fig. 11)
6. connect appliance to mains power supply and switch it on by pressing luminous switch
(13 in Fig. 3)
7. pour at least ½ gallon (2 liters) of sanitizing solution into the basin, taking care to keep the
basin full at all times
