SPECIAL WARNINGS
• Install the product in a position that is difficult to reach to avoid intentional damage.
• Do not install the product near possible hot or cold air currents or where there are hot-
blooded animals (fig 1).
• The equipment described in this manual must be installed and set up by specialised
technicians, in accordance with applicable legislation and taking care not to partially or
completely obscure the device's field of view.
HSDIM23 is an infrared presence detector with volumetric lens. It is designed to cover
an area of up to 12m (27 zones over 3 floors) with an opening angle of 100°; it includes
sensitivity and alarm type adjustment (immediate or on second pulse), protection against
opening, removal and blinding attempts. Suitable for indoor use.
Any other use is to be considered improper and is strictly prohibited! Nice
declines all liability for any damage resulting from improper use of the product
and any use other than specified in this manual.
1 - OPERATION
HSDIM23 is a passive infra-red detector (PIR) designed to detect a person moving inside
the protected zone. Correctly position and adjust the product for optimal operation. The
use of the adjustable joint mod. HSA4 (optional accessory) allows the product to be cor-
rectly positioned.
HSDIM23 works with 3 AA type alkaline batteries; it has no external electrical connection
and if intrusion is detected, it transmits the alarm to the control unit via radio.
In the product, the infrared detector is always active and, if an intrusion event is detected
(red LED on), it immediately transmits the signal to the control unit via radio.
HSDIM23 has a function to reduce battery consumption in the event it is used to protect
a heavily used area; as a matter of fact, after each alarm it suspends its operation and
restarts after 2 full minutes of no movement in the protected area.
To check the operation of HSDIM23, simply set the control unit to test mode and remove
it from its sliding bracket; for 3 minutes the block function is cancelled after an initial alarm
and HSDIM23 transmits and displays all the detected events through the LEDL1 (fig 2).
Caution! – When the top cover of HSDIM23 is removed, the system stays in "TEST"
mode.
The detector has protections against removal and opening and against attempts to blind it.
HSDIM23 transmits a signal to the control unit every 28 minutes to indicate that the system
is running; this is necessary for the "supervision function" present on the control unit.
The detector also has a special "Double Alarm" function to send two consecutive alarms
with two separate radio codes. This particular function acquires the sensor in the AND
mode exploiting the two radio codes transmitted. This allows an alarm to be signalled
only in the event of two consecutive detections, thus reducing the possibility of improper
alarms.
