After the S S M M R R T T Pak has been discharged, remove the S S M M R R T T Pak from the P P o o w w e e r r - - P P R R O O cot and replace it with a charged
S S M M R R T T Pak.
Running the S S M M R R T T Pak repeatedly, without rest periods, can increase the temperature within the cells and reduce life. For
example, lifting a heavy patient up and down several times in rapid succession can reduce the S S M M R R T T Pak life.

• Do not remove the battery when the cot is activated.
• Do not attempt to open the battery pack for any reason, to avoid the risk of electric shock. If the battery pack case is
cracked or damaged, do not insert it into the charger. Return damaged battery packs to a service center for recycling.
• Always avoid direct contact with a wet battery or battery enclosures. Contact may cause injury to the patient or operator.
C C A A U U T T I I O O N N - - Always remove the battery if the cot is not going to be used for an extended period of time (more than 24
hours).
To remove the S S M M R R T T Pak from the cot:
1. Press the red one hand release button (C) or press the battery release button (A) to release the S S M M R R T T Pak (B) from the
cot (Figure 25).
2. Slide the released S S M M R R T T Pak out of the enclosure.

For the longevity, performance, and safety of this equipment, use the original packaging materials when you store or
transport this equipment.
All batteries lose charge during storage or periods of inactivity. A S S M M R R T T Pak can lose up to 30 percent of its charge within
48 hours after you remove it from the S S M M R R T T charger. Use and fully charge stored S S M M R R T T Paks every three months to
maintain top performance.
