INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Starting the appliance

Check that the voltage of the domestic network is the same as that indicated on the technical information plate of the appli-
ance. Place the appliance on a flat surface.
Before using the appliance for the first time wash the tank. Fill it up to the "MAX" level with fresh cool water and insert it in
its housing (Fig. 4). Insert the plug into the socket, which must be earthed.

Starting the first time

After having filled the tank up to the "MAX" level with cool tap water, start the machine by pressing the button (M). The
indicator lamp (N) will turn on, indicating that the machine is on, as well as indicator lamp (Q), indicating that the internal
boiler is starting to heat up.
Warning!
Remove at least one cup of water from the boiler hydraulic circuit whenever the appliance is turned on the first time
or after it has not been used for a period of time by pressing the dispensing button (R) until water starts coming out
of the coffee dispenser (Fig. 5). Do this only after making sure there is no capsule inside the capsule holder (L).
You will notice that the indicator lamp (Q) will turn off, indicating that the boiler has reached the right temperature for prepar-
ing the beverage.
Warning!
Do not press the dispensing button with the capsule holder cover raised. Danger of burns!

HOW TO MAKE COFFEE

Using the lever (F), lift the capsule holder cover and insert the Ariete Capricci capsule in the direction shown (Fig. 6). Close
the cover again by pressing the lever (F) until you hear it click (Fig. 7).
Warning!
Put only Ariete Capricci capsules inside the capsule holder. Do not put any powder substance inside.
To be sure the first cup of coffee is hot, it is best to leave the capsule holder cover closed for a few minutes before putting the
capsule inside. This will not be necessary for the cups of coffee that follow. Wait until the lamp (Q) turns off before dispensing
the coffee. To savour the coffee at its maximum deliciousness, pre-brew it by pressing the dispensing button (R) for two or
three seconds, then release it. The blend in the capsule will become damp, taking on greater body. Press the button (R)
again after a few seconds to start dispensing the coffee Fig. 7A. Press the button (R) to stop it. The coffee will thus be even
tastier and more aromatic. The maximum dose for one cup of espresso is 50 ml.
Warning!
Do not open the capsule holder cover while coffee is being dispensed. Danger of burns!
After the coffee is made, gradually open the capsule holder cover by lifting the lever (F). Pay attention that water residue in
the capsule holder does not squirt on you. A special snap release device lets you empty the used capsule into the capsule
drawer (I), Fig. 8.
If the machine stays on for a long time, the lamp (Q) will turn on and off periodically. This shows that the boiler thermostat
is tripping, which serves to keep the water temperature optimum. It is a good idea to start dispensing the coffee only when
this indicator lamp is off, and this is true for both the first cup and those that follow.
