Getting started

PREPARATION FOR COUNTING
• Plug the Power Supply Output Cable to the Power Jack on the Rear Panel of the RRC-330. Plug the Power Supply into a
suitable AC Power Mains Outlet. Place the Power Switch on the rear of the RRC-330 to the "ON / 1" position and verify
that numbers are displayed on the Counter.
• The Counter is pre-programmed as a Preset Count-Up Counter. If you want to use the preset function, introduce the
number of labels with the blue push button on the counter. If you do not want to use preset, set the value to "0".
• When the preset number of labels is reached, the RRC-330 will stop. Pressing "R" on the counter will reset the count
and restart the RRC-330
• See the separate User Manual for the Counter Modules itself for other operations.
OPERATING THE RRC-UNIT STEP 1
• Place the "STOP / RUN" Switch in the STOP Position. FIG.1.1
• Place your Roll of Labels on the Roll Holder at the left of the RRC-330. FIG.1.2
• The Take-Up Spindle on the right FIG.1.3 rotates in a counter-clockwise direction. Note that your rewind can be "Wind-In"
or "Wind-Out" according to which way you place the Label Roll on the Roll Holder, right-side-up or upside-down.
• The 2 plastic rings on the paper guides FIG.1.4 need to be used only if the unwind roll is unevenly wound to begin with.
Setting the rings at the proper height will assist to get optimal results.
IMPORTANT: CALIBRATION OF THE PHOTOCELL
• Your RRC-330 comes standard with 2 label detector photocells. FIG.6.1 detects your label gap and will transfer the sig-
nal to the counter. The second one, FIG.6.2, will detect "out-of-paper" and stop the device accordingly.
• To reliably count your labels, it is recommended to calibrate the photocell whenever you are changing labels and/or
label material. The procedure is easy:
• Load a roll of labels on the machine and position the backing paper in front of the photocell. Make sure that the labels
are tensioned when doing the calibration. The green LED FIG.4.1 should light on. If not, rotate the potentiometer FIG.4.2
till LED goes on "green". Now put a label in front of the photocell, the LED should turn off.
U-MODELS ONLY: CALIBRATION OF THE ULTRASONIC SENSOR FIG.3.1
• tension the web between supply roll & take-up roll
• push the bracket holding the sensor as close as possible towards the rolling guide shafts
• select the ultrasonic sensor with the switch on the rear-panel of the rrc-330
• remove some labels and place backing paper only in the gap of the ultrasonic sensor
• press "+" & "-" simultaneously for 1 sec, the red led will flash
• slowly move the web back and forth 4 to 5 times for the sensor to detect the label and the backing (self-teaching)
• end moving web on backing and press "-" 1 time, all leds will switch off
• start the unit on slow speed, the yellow led should flash for every label detected
FOR CLEAR LABELS ON CLEAR BACKING ONLY:
• mask the second small black gap sensor FIG.6.2 This will deactivate the end of paper function, but is mandatory to use
this kind of label material
