WARNING The motor could be damaged if it turns in the wrong direction as the pump's power draw is generally sensibly higher than
expected.
The exact rotation direction must be identified (anti-clockwise for the pump from the delivery side) by means of the following operations:
1) on starting for the first time, measure the pressure developed by the electric pump with the sluice valve closed;
2) disconnect the pump from the electricity main and switch two of the three phases with each other;
3) repeat the operation described in point 1. The maximum pressure indicates that the rotation direction is correct.
The pressure obtained with an incorrect rotation direction may sometimes not even be sufficient to oppose the geodesic characteristics.
Phase unbalance (for threephase motors only).
Check the power draw of each phase. Unbalances must not exceed 5%.
GB
If higher values are discovered (which can be caused by the motor and/or by the power main), check the power draw in the other two
motor-mains connection combinations, taking care to avoid inverting the rotation direction.
The best connection is the one where the power draw difference between the phases is the least. Note that if the higher power draw is
always found on the same phase, the main reason for the unbalance is due to the mains supply.

USE AND MANAGEMENT:
6.1
Starting:
If the electric pump fails to start, avoid repeated attempts which could only damage it. Identify and eliminate the cause of the fault. If an indirect starting
system is used, the starting transient must be brief and must never last more than a few seconds in any case.
The first start-up must be made with the on-off sluice valve only partially open so as to limit sand or silt entrainments as far as possible. If the
water is turbid, the sluice valve must be throttled still further until the water delivered contains no more than 150 g/m3 of solid substances
(150 parts/million).
When the pump is running, check to make sure that the power draw is not sensibly different from the value indicated on the motor's data plate and
that the machine operates regularly. Bring the electric pump to maximum power draw conditions and set the activation limit of the thermal
relay.
Lower the setting level by degrees until the relay trips, then position the relay's setting pointer to the minimum ampere rating for
nonactivation.
WARNING
This pump has been designed to operate for long periods even when the pumped fluid contains a high concentration of sand.
You are strongly advised to use the Caprari XPBox control panel to ensure reliable operation with single-phase motors and wells with sand,
especially if new.
If the Caprari XPBox control panel is not used, keep the electric pump on when the installation is started for the first time, until the extracted water
becomes limpid. If necessary, adjust the sluice valve in order to obtain the flow rate most suited to the characteristics of the well. If the water fails to
become limpid, allow the electric pump to continue operating for at least 3-6 hours.
General prescriptions for the use of the INVERTER
- During commissioning and/or use, the minimum frequency must not be lower than 30 Hz, with a steady voltage to frequency ratio
- Maximum acceleration ramp time - 3 seconds
- Maximum deceleration time equal to twice the maximum acceleration time.
- Maximum inverter switching frequency ≤5kHz
Ensure the following operating conditions:
750
Voltage gradient
Conditions that must be met regardless of the length of the power cables.
In case of malfunctioning of a system featuring a soft starter of inverter start, verify, if possible, the operation of the electric pump
assembly by connecting it directly to the grid (or with another device).
6.2
Running and inspections:
The maximum number of starts tolerated by the motor is given in the 'Motors table'.
WARNING To make sure that the machine operates regularly, make regular inspections at least every 3 months or after every 1000-1500 hours
service. It is also advisable to have the efficiency of all the electrical equipment checked every 6-12 months.
6.3
Maintenance:
The electric pump unit must be serviced and repaired by specialized personnel possessing adequate qualifications and equipped with the right tools.
These persons must have studied and understood the contents of this manual and any other documentation supplied with the electric pump unit.
