Tightening the chain along the top of the bar can quickly push the bar back towards the
operator.
Any of these reactions mentioned above can make the chainsaw lose control and cause
serious personal injury.

Do not rely only on the safety equipment fitted on the chainsaw.

The user of a chainsaw should take a number of measures to prevent accidents or personal
injury while working.

Incorrect operations, incorrect operating phases or improper operating conditions could
result in kickback. Kickback can be avoided by taking the precautions below:
a. Hold the handle firmly. Adjust body and arm positions to prevent kickback. The operator
can control the kickback force if these precautions are taken.
b. Do not overextend the tool and do not hold it higher than your shoulders. This will pre-
vent the bar head from touching any object and will help the operator to effectively control
the tool in the event of an accident.
c. Use only the specified replacement bars and chains. Improper bar or chain replacement
may cause the chain to break and/or kickback.
d. Follow the grinding and maintenance instructions to maintain the chain. Reducing the
depth or height causes frequent kickbacks.

Other risks
