6.7 GOING UP RAMPS AND SLOPING SURFACES
Uphill
To move uphill you need to give a slight push, keep up the momentum and at the same time control the direction.
1. Bend forwards and move the wheelchair forwards giving quick and energetic pushes to both handrims.

WARNING!
Danger due to an uncontrolled movement! Going through sloping surfaces, the
wheelchair could tip backwards, sideways or forwards.
Go through long sloping surfaces essentially with a helper behind the wheelchair.
Avoid leaning sideways. Avoid surfaces with a gradient bigger than 7°.
Avoid abruptly changing direction on a sloping surface.
CAUTION!
The wheelchair could involuntarily move even on slightly sloping surfaces, if not
controlled using the handrims.
Apply the parking brakes if on a sloping surface with the wheelchair.
